Did any other companies manufacture backup RAM carts for the Sega CD? I know a lot of systems had third party memory cards, but there only seems to be one option available for the Sega CD. The least expensive ones I can find online sell for about $30, and I've never actually seen one for sale anywhere around where I live. Did another company produce them at any time, or has anyone manufactured any recently for classic gaming enthusiasts?

Just Sega released a RAM cart AFAIK. You can find a loose one for about $10-20 probably on Ebay. Complete ones are more like $50.

Just the Official Sega CD memory cart. No other options at this time.

Do they wear out over time? Is there a finite number of writes that you can make to the official cart?

In digital photography, all memory cards have a finite number of writes you can perform before they die, but that's usually figured out through some really rigorous testing and benchmarking. I have a hard time imagining someone ever getting enough "natural" use out of a Sega CD cart for it to actually die on them.

Do these carts have batteries inside?

Did any third party companies release combination import adapter/memory units, like with the Sega Saturn?

I thought the Sega Mega Cart could store saves as well.
