Atari-NES paddle splice?

Would it be possible to splice an Atari paddle controller to play Arkanoid for the NES?

Given a proper pinout of the NES Arkanoid spinner controller and assuming the potentiometer in the 2600 paddle is similar, I suppose it could be done.

I've always wondered if it's possible to somehow connect multiple zappers to the NES for a single player zapper game. Example: Two people get the opportunity to shoot ducks in the 1 player mode of Duck Hunt.
