Hi guys. I gave been playing super mario 3 on mario all stars on my super nintendo. (real thing not an emulator) The weird thing is that super mario 3 isn't saving properly. The first night i made it to world 4 and saved. When i went back the next day i entered a game genie code to start as raccoon mario on the map and loaded the saved file. As soon as i entered a level everything went black forcing me to reset. When I reset the game the save file was gone !

I thought maybe it was something to do with the dame genie code so I started a new game today and played all the way to the ship at the end on world 3 and saved the game.

I just went to start back up and when i load the save file I'm back at world 2 level 1. Wtf? :bad-words::bad-words: Does this mean the battery is going ? I thought if that happened the files would just disappear not start you on the wrong levels ?

Anyone have any ideas on whats going on here ?

Thanks.

Are you holding reset as you power off? :D

Super Mario All-Stars is very fragile when it comes to save files. It's no wonder because it has a lot of data to keep track of (4 separate games. 5 if you have the version + SMW)

Sometimes it will erase data for no reason if it feels that it is overloaded. Game Genie codes could only worsen the problem.

First try cleaning the cart contacts of the game and the system connector with a SNES cleaning kit or similar. The save files have checksums and a poor connection can cause it to fail. A Game Genie increases the chances of this, not to mention side effects some codes might have.

If the game keeps losing saves even after the connectors are cleaned, it's time for a battery replacement.

I dont understand why it would start you on a differnt level if it was the battery.
