View Full Version : Arcade Baby
I so need this, it looks amazing. While the $400+ price tag seems steep, it's still a lot less than the $1,700+ Ultracade. It seems to have a UK-only release as far as I can tell. Any opinions on this? Doesn't it look like something fun to have around the house? :)

You can find a list of the games here (http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/products/arcadebaby.htm). Looks like your standard pirate machine.

Find a Jamma cab and plug in a multiboard. A lot of multi boards also have VGA out, so you can replace an arcade monitor with a new LCD, if you so desire. You could have a multi-game jamma cabinet for $400, and it'd be a lot cooler.

Did anyone else get the Muppet Babies song come to mind for this?
Arcade Baaaaby you make our dreams come truuuue.

After seeing the list of games someone mentioned above, I agree. It looks like they're all NES/Famicom games. I doubt any are the actual arcade versions. :(

Yeah, defiantly not worth the price tag. $100 is more reasonable. A famiclone with an arcade stick and a monitor, yup $100.

Shouldn't this be in Arcade Alley?

I wouldn't mind having one of those with Tekken Tag or Soul Calibur 2 in it.

Why, it's not a stand-up arcade game. It is a countertop. If there was a handheld/tabletop/countertop forum, I would post it there. This seemed the most likely place, being that all the games on the machine are old.

I used to make little cabs like this as a hobby. The novelty of it wears off pretty fast, and it just becomes another bulky and rarely used toy.

It looks like shit! Just buy a real arcade controller and a computer! That thing has crap wriiten all over it!

I was going to post my tentative approval of this machine and its price point until I saw the screenshot with that all-too-familiar Famiclone game menu (65551-in-1!) so never mind. Not worth that price by half.

Funny, I am planning on building one of these eventually as I've gotten sort of tired of full-sized MAME cabinet conversions (I've built 7 of those). I have this nifty little 12" SVGA CRT monitor which will be the centerpiece of it. Even if I don't play it all that much myself it might be fun to take it to my kids' friends' birthday parties and the like.

It's a Famiclone with a screen and arcade controls. Is there even an actual arcade game on that list?

It even has the events from Track n Field listed as different games.
Seriously, if you still are considering buying one of these. Send me the money. I'll pay off my credit card bill. That will be a much better use of the money.

Right, I first looked at that and said "How the hell do you play Arkanoid with a joystick?"
