I bought Namco Museum for PS2 (purely on the DP recommendation) and am now re-addicted to proper Pac-Man.

Does anyone have a link to a site that has the patterns on it? I'd love to be getting up to those keys again.

Thanks in advance for your help!

There are other sources, but for now Joystik mag showed a couple of patterns for the Apple stage on up:

(etc. up to page 42.. just change the URL)

Awesome, man, thanks!

Ummmmm, not to get greedy, but does anyone have them in an easily printable format?

@ Britboy: What do you think of the Namco Museum? Game-wise, it's cool, but I prefer the design of the Atari Anniversary CD.

Have you played the other games? It's weird to see Pole Position on it, having always associated that game with Atari. That's like seeing Frogger on Konami's Arcade Classics cart...

I seem to remember that on the Atari Anniversary for the DC some of the games where soo small and compressed to one side of the screen, that it was very difficult to play. :(

The arcade ports on Namco Museum are picture perfect, I got flashbacks to the 80's just hearing the sound effects!

Doesn't memorizing patterns defeat the purpose (testing your reflexes)?

@Igotthedot: I don't recall this being a problem in the PSX port of the anthology, although there is a bit of a out-of-reach area in the upper right corner when playing Pong. Maybe Infogrames corrected the problem when they made the Playstation port of the CD?

The patterns are also available if you have a copy of the pac-man fever re-release CD.

@aveng I don't think so, i see the point, but the simple fact is I ain't getting to the keys without a pattern. Ofcourse, once I do that, this game will gather dust on the shelf...

I think I know what you're talking about. You can remove the arcade borders and have the picture running full screen. If you remove the borders, you still have to change another option to get the image full screen.

Man, this disc frustrated me too. I hated having to go to the menu to credit up rather than just pushing a button like on the PSX Arcade's Greatest Hits. You'd think since it was the same dev house, they would get it right.

Yeah what are you guys talking about, the Atari Anniversary for the Dreamcast kicked butt! You just have to change the options once to get it fullscreen, then save it. Whammo Blammo, no more "compressed" display issues.

Nah, Pacman was all about Patterns and coming up with them and testing them etc. If you wanted to, you could always break off of them and play it free and show your skills anyway... and quite honestly you'd have to have those in the first place to come up with any good pattern. :) Also, lots of times a pattern would mess up anyway, so you always have plenty of opportunities to show your reflexes. ;)

Of course later on, patterns were rendered obsolete with new chips, and of course in Ms. pacman, route patterns are basically impossible. :)

On that note one of my favorite patterns for 9th key pacman (when ghosts no longer turn blue and pacman slows down) is a "stunt" pattern which has you passing through 2 ghosts and going through several hair raising close calls and finally eating the last dot halfway into Blinky's face. It's pretty hard to pull off (and risky), but it's entertaining to watch when you can. I have a video of it somewhere if you're interested but it's around 4.5megs. Let me know ;)

Why is that? i imagine the nearly double-in-size Jr.Pac-Man maze has absolutely none.

And YES I'd like to see your Pac-Man video. :D

Well yeah, in Mspacman, they added a touch of randomness to the ghost's movements, so you could try and try, but the ghosts will never react EXACTLY the same to a pre-set pattern of moves you might do (like they did in the original Pacman). Of course the same thing goes for Jr. Pacman. The size of the maze doesn't make a difference. ;)

You got it! Here it is:
http://www.users.qwest.net/~bapcruz/pacman/NE1sl33tpacmanpattern.avi

It's 4.4megs and you'll probably need the DIVX codec to watch it. If you don't have it, it's downloadable here:
http://www.divx.com/divx/. Make sure you download the FREE 3 meg one. Works great.

I dug up an old book on mastering Pac Man by memorizing specific pattern. It's made just for the 2600 version.
