I'm trying to get some save data from my carts to play on an emulator, but my SWC creates BBD files and I'm not sure how to convert them to srm.

I downloaded ucon64 and tried using it in the command line with windows xp, but I don't really have a clue how to use ucon64. I'm hoping there is an easier way or maybe someone can walk me through it.

Thanks

If you have the save file in the same folder as ucon64, try this:

ucon64 -stp gamesave.bbd

I tried that at some point and it wrote a .bak file, but also said "Error: can't open c:\....\ntuser.dat for reading. Please see FAQ 47 & 36"

I read the instructions but didn't really understand much of it, but there wasn't something about changing the path and the location of the ucon64 or something. Not sure if that matters.

Thanks

Also, I'm using a Super Wildcard DX2. Do other copiers (GD SF7) output something easier to work with or does it not really matter?

The .bak file is your original bbd file. The newly modified file has the same name from when you started. Don't worry about the error message.

Before:
gamesave.bbd (starting file)

After:
gamesave.bbd (modified file)
gamesave.bak (starting file)

The GD7 creates a 32KB file whether or not the game used up the whole amount. It doesn't add a header or anything so most emulators shouldn't have any trouble with the file you get from a GD7.

Ah, okay I think I got it now! I took the modified .bbd and changed the file type to .srm and got it to load on snes9x. SWEET

Now I just have to mess with going the opposite way and putting saves back onto carts.

Just out of curiosity would a game copier work the same way on the custom carts you made me the same as a regular production cart? I wouldn't want to mess them up so I probably won't try it, but just wondering if it would.

If what you are getting it is uploading save files to a cart, then yes. They would work the same way.
