This was just announced officially at CES. Microsoft has a new "Game Room" deal on Xbox Live which is supposed to bring back the spirit of arcades of the 80's! It looks quite awesome I'll say. Anything with virtual Adventure dragons roaming around my customized character sounds great to me. You can see the trailer below:

If executed well, I'll be all over this, this could be great.

I'm just curious if it'll be possible to import our current arcade-era live games into the arcade setting, that would be pretty awesome.

That's... really awesome! One of the 3 should do that for consoles though, kind of like how RetroCopy does it.

Asteroids DeLuxe has this achievement already :)

Honestly, I don't see much the appeal of "Atari games with achievements". Perhaps if this does something more grand, like pave the way for things that were once arcade-exclusive like 6-player X-Men or Daytona USA 2 or somesuch... but currently it just sounds gimmicky to me.

They just announced that each game has medals and achievements! Sounds like PSN's game "stamps" which add up to single trophies, or achievements.

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. There isn't a single game on this list that they should be charging $3 for. I was assuming this was some kind of free addition to Xbox Live Gold or that these would be sold in large packs, but charging this much for games all of us own or could own in their actual original format for less is insane.

Sounds neat, but too expensive.
