(Note: I vaguely recall reading a similar post a while back, but can't find it via the board search, Google, or Bing.)

About 15 minutes ago I was playing a few quick games of Time Pilot (thx Stonic!) and was having a bad day of it. I wasn't doing well at all, and my head just wasn't in it.

SO I decided to try something new. I played a game where I didn't shoot my gun at all, and just tried to see how many points I could score by only rescuing the parachuting pilots.

I ended up with a little over 20,000 points.

Years ago I stopped marking the mines in Minesweeper.

What do you guy do differently (different than the intended gameplay/strategy) to change or increase the challenge of different games?

I like to do low% runs, where optional upgrades are skipped. It makes tackling levels/bosses more interesting, as it requires completely different tactics.

When I was a little kid, my friends and I would play "tag" in Indy 500 ("Race"). There was a free mode where you could wrap around and do whatever you wanted. We would put on the icy track and then just take turns smashing each other's cars.

Back when I was assembling my Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet, I played it blind for much longer than I should have. :)

Sometimes I play my Karate Champ machine using only one hand (it has two joysticks).

I remember my friend Jake and I attempting to play NES Volleyball with our feet once.

I think QoF had a column about finding different ways to play games.
