Got it off ebay. From Thailand. Seller has 99.8% positive feedback.

Both controller and console feel lighter and of poorer build quality but it could be my mind playing tricks on me.

If someone knowledgeable enough could shed some light on the subject. Here are some pics:

P.S. Don't forget this is a new console. Supposedly been in a warehouse for 11 or so years.

If it's a clone, it's one heck of a good one. Seriously though, a model 2 VA0 isn't exactly the best revision, but it's definitely not a clone. Clone controller it seems, however. I'm not sure why there's no RF shielding, but that may explain the weight difference.

Was wondering why do you think it's a clone controller?

RF shielding was imposed by the FCC to regulate interference. Asian models never had it installed.

Oh, I didn't notice the Sega logo. The glare covered it up. Probably real too, then.

It could be a Famiclone, 'cause my friend have got a console similar to that on pics.

I've only taken apart 1 or 2 Model 2 systems, but that board looks right.

Brazilian consoles don't have it either.

It's lighter for 2 reasons, the Japanese Mega Drive's don't have RF shielding plates or a built in RF modulator.

That looks legit to me. Like previous posters said, the absence of the RF Shielding definitely would cause a significant weight difference.

It's real. No clones have any Sega logos all over the places as this one. The controller is the last revision. Smaller and with 6 buttons. Not mention how perfect the soldering job is done with Sega chips.
