Does anyone know how to take a part a Famicom game to clean the connectors? I don't see any visible screws and I would rather not break things trying to get it apart.

The screw is behind the front label.

The screw is behind the front label.

Most famicom carts don't have screws. They are snap together and the ones that do have screws, they are clearly visible. You are probably thinking about megadrive games. They have screws behind the back label.

What he said. There's also no standard location where the plastic tabs are that hold the cartridge halves together on Famicom games, different style cartridges have them in different places.

After looking at the game closely, I think I feel a circular indent in the back under the label. It feels like the inset where a screw is located. I don't want to remove the label, or punch through to unscrew, but I really need to clean before putting this game into my converter and into my NES.

I don't know if it matters, but the game is "Devil World". The reason I bought it is because it was an original Nintendo published title that never had a release in the US.

Thanks for all the help above!

Just use rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip and scrub the connector the best you can. It's not worth potentially breaking brittle 20 year old plastic just to clean it. Plus, that screw hole that you think is there might just be an indentation from the injection molding. I'm fairly certain all of Nintendo's releases (which includes Devil World) use snap-together cases.
