When you collect for systems do you go to get the whole thing in a complete game collection for that system, or do you aim for specific carts by a developer or game series, or both?

(Gomen if this was brought up before or recently)

i'd be both, it sort of depends. I'm all for getting a complete TG and SMS collection. However I have no want or need to complete the SNES at all. However, I that doesn't change the fact that I want all the Final Fantasies, or say the Square titles on the SNES.

certain systems warrant a complete for me, while others are there more for access to the series I love.

Definitely specific games. There are far too many horrid pieces of software for any given system to warrant completeness. I once tried to "go complete" with Castlevania and Bonk series across their many platform appearances, but I couldnt even pull that off (thanks, Bonk III!).

Specific games.

The only games I will buy for a system are:

1. The cream of the crop
2. My personal favourites
3. Extreme rarities (R6 and higher) - and only if it's a reasonable game. I refuse to buy an extremely crap game just coz it's really rare.

I'm only interested in collecting the good games for a consoles - the ones that make the console worth having.

mh both, but i prefer specific games

the only systems i want to complete in the next 1-2 years are Dreamcast and 32x and Gamecube as far as possible

i would like to have complete nes and snes collection, but this is impossible to do for me, as the only way to get games besides ebay and stores are fleas and not many (about 5). there are no salvation army sales, no pawn-shops (there are some, but they don't have video games) and no garage sales in germany

i buy a lot of snes games if i can, but i try to prefer good or rare games (though i don't really know which pal games are rare in europe), i am near to completing my us+pal snes-rpg collection, that'll be my first complete thing :o

Specific games for me. Occasionally I'd want all of the games for a specific series (like all of the Zelda games for GameBoy or all of the RealSports games for the 2600) but I haven't tried collecting all the games for a system.

STRONGBAD.....................Both. I started out collecting NES games that I liked, then games that were hard to find and eventually filled in my collection.

Almost there less than 50 to go.

Only specific games. There isn't a system out there that doesn't have games that I hate for it. In fact, I"m damn picky about my games and getting more so with each year. So I only buy the ones I want and dump everything else. Why bother to get stuff you don't want or won't play? I figure if I won't play it, there's no need to keep it.

I am definitely a completist.

To be honest, I can't even imagine just trying to collect the games that I like, because I like just about everything. And I definitely can't remotely fathom the concept of having all but a dozen carts for a game system and not completing it because I don't like those games.

That's just me though, I'm weird.

I don't think you are weird. 8-) Sounds alot like me. If you have the resources and want to collect for a system, I can't imagine just getting what you want or like. If I collect for a system, I want them all.

Depends for me on the system if I collect for its entirety. I do for Atari, but for my Odyssey and Intellivision, its mostly specific games (for now)

I like complete collections, but itīs very difficult to complete a collection where i live, so many times i have to buy specific games.

I go for specific collections cause they're games I really enjoyed over the years and would like to have a complete collection of, or go for the rarities or the thrill of finding them all, like my collection of the unlicenced Tengen carts.

Of my collections:
NES Dragon Warrior carts- done..might go for completing them later (Also got a DQIV complete).
Final Fantasy games- need the 3 S/NES titles, just need FF7, tactics and Origins to finish the PSX ones.
Mega Man games- Need 3 & 5 (Might go for complete later).

Will post others later.

I guess I'm a completist in the making, but for now I just buy what I like.

I don't think I'll ever fork out the $$$ that some 'rare' games fetch these days. I don't want any game that badly. But if I find something I'll probably like for a good enough price I'll buy almost anything (i.e. Oni for PS2 for $8, even though I've still yet to even try it other than making sure it worked).

I also don't think I'll ever bother getting the multitude of sports games out there. I suppose if they were all I'd need to complete a collection I would, but since I figure I'll never be that close anyway I'll save my money for something (anything) else. And I *like* sports games...
