NAVA Gamer's Meeting, January 30th [NOW WITH PHOTOS]

NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.

Previously at NAVA...

- The "holiday edition" of NAVA found attendees swapping gifts of gaming.
- The Japanese version of the TurboDuo, "PC Engine Duo" and a library of strange games were out for all to play.
- The entire Super Nintendo and Super Famicom library were available for play on the store's newly aquired multi-cart.
- Games and systems traded hands between attendees who brought their own trade boxes.

We'll kick the year off in a more traditional way, with a little new (XBox 360: I really want to play the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "remix") and a little old (NES multi-cart: who's up for some River City Ransom?).

At 6PM it's tournament time, and this month will be 4-player BOMBERMAN. We'll be using the XBox 360 (Bomberman Live) version so feel free to bring your own arcade sticks or controllers.

Get your trade boxes in order. Get your game face on. It's THAT time again!

What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

SIDE NOTE: I'm planning on webcasting parts if not the whole "meat" of this NAVA, both to continue to tweak our equipment settings as well as to possibly create some kind of regular programming. I designed this for CGE 2003. I have a huge wooden "game board" that stands 8' tall out in Vegas. The game got a lot better when Sniderman took over the MC duties at CGE 2005!


I'm going to try and make it out there Saturday. What's a good time to show?

It gets busy around 3pm or so. 6pm is the Bomberman tournament so you want to be there by 5 if you're getting into that. Of course earlier (or late, like after 8) is the best time for conversation! So I guess it all depends on what you're there to do.

Whew that was fun! I haven't gotten the chance to go in a while but, I'm glad I did. First time bringing my girlfriend Allyson along with me. She enjoyed it a lot and thought everyone was really nice. She loved all the older video games there and even picked one up for herself! :)

I got some things from people's sale boxes, a WinTV PCI tuner card and an Xbox Camera. Then I finally picked up Virtua Fighter 32X just for fun... Very fun NAVA, can't wait until next month! I'll post my photos later! :D

I remember hearing lots of songs with turntable "scratching" sound effects and Flav-O-Flav yelling "Yeeeaaahhhh booooyyyyeee" over and over.

One of our regulars often comes in costume. If you check out all of the pictures it won't take long to figure it out - anyway, he also made these fake "nerve gas" and "smoke bomb" canisters. I just love props.
