View Full Version : FS: Sonic Crackers prototype cart
I have a Sonic Crackers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_Crackers) cart I acquired a few years ago. I have this cross-posted on the Sega-16 forums under the username "Robivy64". If you need pictures of the cart taken with further proof of ownership, I can easily accommodate the request.

Here is your chance to own the Mega Drive prototype to beat all prototypes.

Free bump for a great item and fantastic guy. I can vouch for both Rob and the prototype. I was lucky enough to look through some of the other games included in the original prototype lot, and I have no doubt that this proto is completely legitimate based on what I saw.
I would be all over this if I didn't sink all my funds into NES stuff.
Good luck with the sale!

So I'm curious...is this the full game? I've heard of Sonic Crackers before, but I thought it came out on 32x? What's it like?
Seems like a really cool find though

Sonic Crackers is basically the predecessor to Knuckles Chaotix. Same rubber band gameplay, only with Sonic and Tails.

Very true.
This will also depend as well. This rom has been dumped, but it is possible that this certain cart was further along in the process of development and is more complete/less buggy
I gave the rom a try that was dumped and it is very, very buggy. This one might possibly have some issues cleared up.

Should be obvious but just wanted to point out that is indeed an official Sega dev board for the Genesis. Strange that it was stuck in a Megadrive cartridge.
I am happy to know that this is original. I'm surprised nobody wants it.
I may just hang onto it :(.

What's the price range you are looking on it? "Make me an offer" doesn't really sit well with an item like this.
Also, any differences between this proto and the dumped one?

Ill second what Baloo says, it interests me alot, I have no idea what its worth.
I wouldnt want to low ball you nor spend over its value. A price would really help :)
As far as gameplay differences go, I don't see any. I have not dumped this cart though, although I have had some people offer to do it. Since the EPROMs are soldered, I did not want to desolder them to read the ROMs.
The software freezes at the SEGA intro and the title screen unless you hit the start button to skip through it. Once you are in the "game" itself, it plays fine. Other people have confirmed that this happens with the dumped version when played on the real hardware.
As for price, I did make a thread a few months ago pondering the value of the cartridge, and the results were somewhere in the $250-$500 range, although the lower valued carts seemed to be bootlegs. It is difficult to slap a set price on such an item.

Bump your thread a few more times, here's another one.
I see what you did there.
Bump.

Hi I bought one off ebay, though mine does not have a shell...your price is both fair and accurate I'd say...I know that is what I paid (actually mine had lil bits of wiring and soldering on it...so this one may be better in terms of condition) and someone else on another forum is selling one for $400 without shipping...
surprised to see no Sonic fans are snapping this up, if I didn't already have it, I'd have been all over this great deal!
EDIT: Sorry I know this is my first post...more of a lurker type...but thought I'd chip in my two cents. :P
