OT - Wanted: Windows XP Home Ed. CD Key...

My mother in law's computer was a complete mess and when we went to reformat, the CD key we had for XP Home was oddly no longer valid. It just doesn't work, even though it was a clean install of XP Home on there before from the same key.

Anyone got a valid key they're not using?

If you're using a legit copy of XP you can just call up Microsoft's support line and get them to reactivate the CD key.

I have learned from experience that sometimes when the number won't activate online, it will work if you do the automated phone service. Go figure.

I've had to call Microsoft about two times in the past five years - so it should work fine after calling Microsoft's 800 number and following the instructions on screen.

(Slightly OT - Microsoft Mexico was surprised that I was calling to ask for help with an -American English- Windows XP...)
