Recently I went to plug in my N64 which was working perfectly fine until then and it simple wouldn't work. The power light is going on but I think it is something with it's connection to the tv. However I tried two different cords, and both of those cords work on my gamecube and snes so it can't be the cords. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is my n64 dead?

I would try unplugging your expansion pack and replugging it back in to make sure it is making a good connection. Because you are getting the power light I don't think it's the power supply failing, but trying another one would be good to rule that out.

I had this same exact issue when I tried using my N64 recently - none of my games seemed to be working, but it was powering on. I tried about 10 different games, and finally got one to work.

I would suggest cleaning the system and cartridges and see if that resolves it. Are you getting a signal from the connection at all?

My N64 is finicky like that. Sometimes it has trouble playing a game. I usually take the game out and reinsert it a few times very firmly and it does the trick. Although my N64 and games are all really clean. Of course, if you haven't taken apart and cleaned your N64 games lately, maybe you should do that.

N64 oddly seems to be the system most prone to dirt problems, other than NES that is. Sometimes it takes a lot more than q-tips and rubbing alcohol.

Thanks to everyone who replied! I messed around with your suggestions and when I unplugged the expansion memory thing and switched it back to the original I got it to work! I've tried replugging in the expansion one and such but no luck getting it to work as of yet. Could cleaning the expansion unit help? If not at least I'll only have to replace that, this is my original N64 I got when it came out so I didn't want to have to lose it. Thanks again to everyone who posted advice.

Sentimental value? Completely understood :P

Have you left the expansion pak out of your system for a long period of time? It could have acquired dust. Try cleaning it. If that doesn't work, you may just need a new expansion pak.

You also want to make sure what game you're playing too. Some games won't work with certain accessories. I remember renting Killer Instinct Gold once, and it didn't work. We returned it to get another copy, and that one didn't work either. Then, I took out my rumble pak, and it worked.

Yes definatly the sentimental value, I still have all my old consoles in working condition so it would suck if this died on me. The expansion pack has been in my N64 since the moment I took it out of my DK64 box but still I'm going to try to clean it later today and see how it works out. If not oh well replacing the expansion pack isn't to bad and i still get to get my mario party fix right now haha.

It may also be the cartridge slot itslef. If your games don't boot after a good cleaning, try replacing the cartridge slot.
