View Full Version : Should I complete my 32x collection?

I found that I am only missing ten titles to round out a complete USA collection. The ones I am missing are mostly the common sports titles (I already have World Series Baseball). I ran across some forum members commenting on the rarity of some 32X games and some other collectors mentioned their complete collections. So, someone give me a convincing argument!

I actually got into the 32x because I found the library fun to play and it tided me over until I finally broke down and bought newer systems once they started to pop up in thrift stores. I bought most of my games shrinkwrapped so the collection is in good condition overall.

What ten titles are you missing? A complete USA 32x collection isn't really truly hard, if you're shooting for totally complete games you may have some trouble with a couple of the titles but depending on the ten titles, I don't think you would have to shell out a lot of money for the last ten titles. The rarest title in the US is Spiderman Web of Fire, and that only goes for about $120 complete.

I say go for it.

I have that one...found it in a local game store many years ago without the box. Then a couple months ago I found a $50 box for it, and I pulled the trigger to make it complete.

So what are the games you're missing then? If you have Spiderman, the rest of the library is pretty much a breeze, save for Blackthorne and T-Mek.

Both of those are a check too. T-Mek wasn't an easy score, but I did find it. Fun game, I especially liked the tank that had homing missles (and I finished the game all the way through).

If you have Blackthorne, you are done needing anything for the 32x

True.

Save for Spiderman, the rest of the 32x library is relatively easy to get. I've never understood these kinds of threads myself, what's stopping you from getting all of the games if any of the ones you still need are common ones.

Dooooo IT!

Really, it shouldn't be too hard if you have the three or four difficult to find games.

It just sort of occured to me today...I have most of the games already...I just need a little push over the edge I guess.

Blackthorne was good, but I was expecting something more like Flashback/Out of this World. Not a bad game though, and I like the comic book style box art. They say it is the best version of all of them.

Is space an issue? If not, I'd say go for it if you can handle having a good sized group of games you may never actually even play once if you have a large collection (unless you are like me and do test plays). That's really how I would approach it; especially considering that you basically have expensive ones out of the way (unless you go proto and/or international). Can you stomach holding on to a large group of games you'll never play?

My collection is on the larger side of small for these parts, and I have plenty of games I'll never play. Make My Video: INXS, Kriss Kross & Marky Mark will probably never come off the shelf again. I tried them all once (I first purchased a Sega CD in 2003 and didn't get them until 2008), but they only really come out when I want to get a laugh from a like-minded individual who hasn't experienced the suck. I only have them because I set a goal of all the Sega CD cardboard releases complete. I don't do fullsets, but it was easily attainable and satisfying. None of the 32X games, even Fred Couples, even approaches the Make My Video games in terms of total uselessness.

Anyway, if a complete collection is something you want, it's a no brainer when you already have the games you have. If not, I'd say pass. Sports games age poorly, and tend to collect dust.

Space shouldn't be too bad, I am already housing most of the other 32x games on the shelf.

On my way home from work, I thought about another angle: How much extra value would finishing off my collection add to it? Not as an investment or to sell off of course. I know that I've seen complete USA 32x collections on e-bay I just can not remember how much they ended. These prices would be pre-recession, but it would make me feel better about making the plundge.

I've actually heard Couples golf was pretty good...
It kills me I'll actually be buying duplicates of titles...I already have BC racers on my Sega CD..

I tried a search for 32x USA releases but I noticed the 32x CD games were not listed. I have Night Trap and Farenhieght...what were the others?

It helps to complete a collection if you're looking to move it in one fell swoop. However, since you've got the big money games (Spiderman, WSB and hopefully Pitfall) then you could sell those seperately and the rest in a bigger lot if you don't really have the desire to get the other 10. The system only has 30ish games, its really not a big space eater and most should be cheap considering everything.

Do you care if you complete a collection, or even this collection? If you've got no real love for 32X then it shouldn't matter because its not something that you're actively playing and enjoying. If thats the case, save the money and get stuff you do want to play/collect.

I say go for it since you only have ten left to go. As for the 32X CD games besides Night Trap and Farenhieght there's Supreme Warrior, Corpse Killer and Slam City With Scottie Pippen. Also are you only doing the US released 32X games for your collection.

Pitfall is also a check...even has a poster with it.

I bought these just for fun..I always thought the libary was fun and it was the last cartridge system for Sega. And it actually tided me over until the N64 and Saturn were being blown out...

I always enjoyed the games believe it or not. I never bought one at retail but I have fond memories of the first time I played Doom 32x. At the time, it was an unreal experience. I now have the best port of the game (Playstation) but I have a soft spot for this version. I still think Kolibri is the prettiest 2-D game I've ever played.

I always thought I really overpaid for these, but now I may be changing my mind...prices on some games have shot up. Surprising!

Here's a complete list of all the games for the 32X, PAL and Japan included.

Fullsets go for a good bit, 32x is actually a pretty popular fullset as the library is small.

Fred Couples Golf is a very easy game to get and is good. What are the other titles you are missing though?

I say finish it. You have all the hard ones. The rest should be super easy to get.

I have all of them except the 2 rarest games (Spiderman & Pitfall) and all were easy to get. I paid less than $5 for all of them except Knuckles, that one cost me $20.

I would love to trade other gaming items I have and complete this set, so if you decide to sell off, rather than complete your set, check out my huge trade list.....I'll trade a ton of stuff I have to get those last two.

I don't keep up with the rarities of these things, but Blackthorne and T-Mek are rare? I haven't seen a Blackthorne in a while, but I know a place where there's a loose T-Mek for $2.99 right now. I was thinking about buying it, since I loved the hell out of the arcade game it's ported from, but I already have two copies.

The one I don't recall ever seeing around 'these here parts' is Supreme Warrior. I've only seen the PC/Mac version before, and that was a decade ago. Kolibri was another one that took me forever to find in the wild, and I've never seen a Tempo other than when it was new in stores. I had to buy mine at the Oklahoma Video Game Expo. I've never seen BC Racers, ever. I do however find freakin' heaps of Metal Heads and Toughman Contests. Bleh.

I already have a complete USA SMS set, so selling off is not an option. That was hard to put together, I had to import some games from England! Sorry a little off topic...

Mine were more than $5 each, but they were shrinked most of the time. I've been nice to them so they are still pretty good. But it is a lot like trying to keep a cereal box in good shape.

So, how much do complete sets fetch? I know how much I have in what I have...just wondering if it would add a lot of value. I know I really have enjoyed my complete SMS set, so this one isn't too far fetched...

Yes, I'm a die-hard sega collector from way back in the day...

Okay did some searching on what I'm missing.

The most expensive ones look to be:
Brutal 32x=$29
WWF Raw & arcade=$15 each
BC Racers =$13
Supreme Warrior CD=$16
Slam City With Scottie Pippen=$12

everything else is too cheap to mention, which is good :)

Anyone have a figure for me per a complete USA 32X collection with the SegaCD 32X games?

Okay, I ran some numbers per what I found online: for the 13 titles I'm missing, it would set me back $150.96 to order them today. All are available online.

Anyone want to help with past auction valuation for a complete set?

Sorry I dogged the Fred Couples golf game! It was the first one that came to mind when I was typing. I don't know if I've ever played it! I don't believe I have it because I decided against going for the fullset with the 32X when WSB got so expensive. Foot inserted into mouth.

NFL QB Club would have been a better call. I honestly can say that I didn't find any of the QB Club games to be any good on any system FWIW.

Go for it. Complete collections always make for nice center pieces. Furthermore, they are also nice conversation starters for chats with fellow collectors. Also, you could get a premium later down the road if you ever decide to sell the entire collection as a whole.

Yeah, you already got the tough ones, so there is no point in stopping. I only have a couple of the harder to find ones like T-Mek, so you are way above me and I personally want a fullset.

I have a better idea. Sell me your World Series Baseball and don't do it. That way I'll have done it and you won't have to worry about it.
