I never saw this one coming. /sarcasm.

I'm going to get whenever it drops in price(19.99 or less,) but I don't approve of same game being released three times in less than three years. Talk about really whoring out the series. Atleast FES had an extra story. However, Atlus said we weren't going to get it and then announced a couple months after everyone that was interested in Persona 3 already bought it that it was part way through translation. I know they want more money but no need to screw fans over who asked about the game prior.

I agree that this release is questionable. The additional features are a single new character and some simplified controls. Given that I already own both previous versions of the game, I think I will pass on this.

It will not be a day one purchase for me either as I've had both prior versions

Yeah... count me as another person that already has two versions of the game and can't muster up any excitement to buy a third.

While I won't be buying this, I'm actually in favor of it being rereleased on the PSP. P3 is an excellent game, and it's one that many people may have missed the first and second time around. Rereleasing it on a different system gives a lot of new people the opportunity to play a great game.

Do you really think there are that many PSP owners who don't own a PS2 though? It's not like Persona 3 is that old or there is some core of people who only play Atlus games on the PSP. It seems like it would be better to release a PS3 or 360 version, except that would actually require effort. I know that Persona 5 is coming for the PS3, but this really just is a cash in and I won't be supporting it.

What Atlus really needs to do is make an officially localized version of Innocent Sin or test the fan localized version and compensate those who did it. Then port and release Persona 2 Collection for PSP. Also. None of that crappy music added to the Revelations Persona remake please.

Putting in an entire new protagonist is kind of a major upgrade I think. It's justifable. Of course if you don't approve you can always just not buy it. It's just another option out there, big deal. It's not like they could have realisticly done FES as DLC on the PS2 for example, they'd have to sell it as a combined product or make a full-on direct sequel like Avatar Tuner.

Since I have now played the PSP version of the first game, and the innocent sin translation and the official release of eternal punishment, I'll be playing Persona 3 FES through sometime soon, and then I'll play the PSP version through as the female probably once that comes out. Maybe play 4 inbetween, we shall see. The first Megami Tensei for the famicom is supposedly near release in translation hack form as well, so maybe that will come out this year too. Should be a decent time for fans of the franchise anyway.

It is? Last I saw, Atlus had yet to anounce any plans for a Persona 5. So few want it even on the Atlus forums.

Also, I gotta go with Cry on this. Yeah, 2 would have been a better pick but 3 portable is reason enough for purchase. Some of us like the small screen over the big.

You do know that Perona 3 FES was in development in Japan while the English version of Persona 3 was done being localized. It was announced before the English release of Persona 3. Everyone at the Atlus forums at the time asked Atlus if they would put the content on FES but were told by the previous Atlus forum administrator, Vyerslives, that it wouldn't be released in the states.

Only half a year after Persona 3 was released what game is stated to make a release and released only eight months after Persona 3(meaning they were most likely already localizing FES for a bit?) US Persona 3 FES? Way to fuck over your loyal fans Atlus. Way to get everyone interested in P3 to buy it and then buy FES all over again. Yes it was cheaper once it was released, but it stil doesn't take away with the fact that Persona 3 in the US should have been FES to begin with.

Also. Cryomancer? For P3 Portable What's the difference if it's a girl or guy? It's the exact same storyline. Also, all the additional content that was in Persona 3 FES is not in the portable version.

well, this article points out a few things, some spoilery I'm sure: http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Female_Protagonist_(Persona_3)

I venture to guess there will be other differences as well, but I don't know, I haven't played any of them yet.

If Atlus USA really was releasing the first one with intention of releasing FES anyway, well yeah that's kinda shitty of them. But I think it could have just as easily been a more "honest mistake" / fan pressure / other factors as well. Maybe they got the news about FES and the boss said to keep working. They might not have really ever intented to do FES. And then P3 comes out and actually makes some decent cash and there's a lot of fans clamoring for FES. So they go ahead and do it, and cut the price because it would have been really shitty to do both at full price. That seems just as likely of a scenario, if we can suspend our disbelief and hope that maybe a company wasn't thinking only about right-now money. Who knows? I sure don't, and we'd need to build a damn timeline and get inside info to ever know for sure. All I know is that for the past few years, we have NOT been missing Megaten games for the first time ever (outside of cellphone ones I suppose) and that is cool with me. Maybe the ps2 titles aren't the best in the franchise or anything, but at least we are actually getting them. Maybe they did go overboard with P3 releases, but again, they add stuff and we get them, I'm not going to get mad about that.

A whole lot of these games never made it outside of Japan, including several core series titles, and nowadays they are. I will let them slide on re-releases as long as that behavior continues. If we have to have 3 updates to a game so we can have the other games happen too without resistance or second guessing, fine by me. I think the only one we've really not gotten in the past few years is Devil Summoner for PSP, which they seem to have some massive phobia about ever doing.

I've never played any MegaTen games before, and bought Persona 3: FES at its release. I have a nasty tendency to buy games I don't have time to play, so I'm only now getting around to playing it for the first time. I love it!

That said, I can see myself buying Persona 3 Portable when it comes out, if I can get it cheap or with cool free shit along with it. I like having my favorite console RPGs in portable format for purposes of replaying--I've been served well by Final Fantasy IV and VI on the GBA, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness on the PSP, etc. The addition of the option of a female main character is enough to sell me; it does seem like it would drastically change the game's social mechanic.

And I realize I say this as someone who wasn't burned by buying the original Persona 3 only to have them release FES some time later, but would people be so upset about that if they had only released The Answer on a separate disc at MSRP $30, and just not included the original game?

I'm finally playing FES as well right now, and I too am having a good time. Once I beat this, I'll start up 4 probably, when that's over, maybe Strange Journey will be out, and then i can play 3 through again on PSP this summer. Sounds good to me.

I how this is going to be compared to the PS2 version. Are the graphics going to be as good? Will all cutscenes and voices be left in? etc.

You gotta throw in Devil Survivor sometime it's worth it

P3 and P4 are both awesome games. However, replacing one silent protagonist with another silent protagonist doesn't seem worth a lot of money to me.

Is there even still dating in P3 PSP? Do all the female characters become lesbians?

From what i've read the female MC will be able to date the male characters

I do gotta say that I'm digging the fact that all party members will be controllable by the player like in Persona 4. I don't know why there isn't more focus on that, but I guess the weaboos care more about playing as an anime girl.

Already ran through that once, should do so for some of the other endings though.

Female Main in P3P can date, I saw a video of her having a fade-to-black "tender moment" bit with a male party member. There's also a male Velvet Room assistant you can choose instead of Elizabeth I think.

It's probably because I'm a heterosexual male, but the idea of dating a bunch of different guys doesn't titilate me in the same way as hooking up with all the girls.

Never stopped me from enjoying dating sims and games with dating sim elements. You male gamers are just spoiled. :P The Harvest Moon series only semi-recently gave players the option to play as a woman finding a husband, yet the fan base seems to be predominantly female. How messed up is that?

I'd give it a spin in fact, I'd LIKE to see more of those crazy japanese dating sims come here
