I've heard talk of people getting SNES emulators and such to run on modded Xbox 360's now. Is this for real? I know that 360's can be modded to play burned games, but didn't know that anybody could actually get emulators up and running on it.

If this is legit, does anybody know what emulators are actually up and running on it, and whether or not it's worth the trouble to get one modded to be able to play them?

I've seen videos of it working on Youtube. Obviously, you cant believe everything you see on there, but it does look legit.

I did a little research and found this http://hacknmod.com/hack/nintendo-meets-xbox-360-with-the-snes-emulator/

If you are interested, definitely check it out. I wouldn't get a modded Xbox for emulation yet. Its very primitive and there are countless better ways of doing it (PSP comes to mind)

This is real, but it's hardly worth modding your xbox for.

Totally doable, but not worth the hassle.

I would think that if they can get SNES emulators up and running, it would only be a matter of time before they would have emulators for all the systems. Including stuff like perfect emulation of N64 and PS1. I have a modded original Xbox with Xbox Media Center and all the emulators and stuff, it's just cool to have one of those around cause you can play Mame and all that on your TV easily. But the Xbox 1 never had very good emulation of PS1 or N64, and also couldn't play alot of Mame roms. I was thinking with the 360 running emulators, it could do all that perfectly, and maybe even emulate stuff like dreamcast and PS2.

i'm not interested in emulation on the 360 (unless somebody finds a way to hook an nes pad to it), but hopefully this is a stepping stone to more homebrew applications.

it's been over four years; i want my xbox media center on 360!

Maybe not all the scripts & emulator stuff, but Xbox 360 already has media center capabilities built in. Plus you can set up media center on your pc to stream stuff to your 360.

Yes, it can be done but it's not worth the trouble.
