Does anyone know if a guide for Legacy of the Wizard exists for the NES? I found walk-thrus and hints online but I would love to get my hands on a an original guide, if it's out there.

I don't think there ever was one. Gamefaqs is your best bet. I remember sickos on parade (google it) had a guide with full maps.

One issue of Nintendo power did provide a map with clues on how to get Meyna's crown, but that's it.

I don't think that there is an strat guide from the period for this game. GameFAQs is your best bet, someone wrote a ridiculously comprehensive guide for it there.

In Counselor's Corner, right? I found their coverage nearly useless. This is what I used when I wanted some outside help:

bah. at best all you need is the giant map floating around the internets.

there was never an official guide in english. I think there was a guide in Japanese that i seen oneeeee time...I know for sure there is a DSV and DSVI guide (have them), so i dont see why they wouldnt have published a DSIV (your game) guide...

it might be floating around as a pdf! Ill see if I can find it anywhere...

but it would all be in Japanese...!

You can also watch seasoned players walk through the game on Youtube.

Decided to start giving this a shot. Beat Pochi's Boss and got the 1st Crown.

Finally got the rest of the special items. Time to go after the other 3 Crowns. Power Glove is a pain to use.

I remember getting this for Christmas back in 91 or 92. Was a bit disappointed to be honest but that didn't stop me from playing it. I think I got the first two crowns and hit a brick wall and never went back to it. At some point I'd like to go back to it, would make an interesting article for my site.

The power glove levels are where I quit every time. You have to utilize every little glitch and screwy aspect of the "physics" to get through those areas and it's awful. If they just allowed xemn to jump a little higher a lot more people would finish the game.

Yeah, the game is fairly fun getting the first two crowns, but dealing with the parents will destroy your will to live, haha. It's a seriously depressing game. It could've been good, and kind of is in a way, but after awhile it just makes you mad at yourself that you ever decided to try to beat it. It's almost like a practical joke. Like "Oh, you're enjoying the game, right? Well, now we're going to reveal every flaw in the game in the most painful way possible!" And then you feel like an ass that you couldn't detect the flaws earlier.

Here's the order I always do them in, don't even have to worry about using Xemn's Power Glove (Highlight to see):

Lyll - Top Right (1st)
Lyll - Top Left (2nd)
Menya - Bottom Left (3rd)
Xemn - Bottom Right (4th)
