Does anyone have one of these?

Apparently it only came out in Japan. Does anyone know the differences between this and the Game Gear?

Not sure of the differences, but I believe this was released very late in the Game Gear's life, when Sega switched it over to their toy department or something of that nature, and it became the Kids' Gear.

Yeah, no real difference, just a difference in marketing, and some different colors/packages. The Game Gear never did as well in Japan as it had in the US and Europe, for a few reasons. So they tried the "Kids Gear" thing to see if they could reach a different audience. But it was a stupid move, and it failed.

It's just a recolored Game Gear? I wish Sega had added really condescending features to it, like hollowing out underneath the handgrips for "candy compartments" to store Runts and other small confections, and a juice box holder that locks into the cartridge port like a Master Gear Converter.

That's the best idea I've ever heard.

Dang.

Actually if they could have designed a smaller damn Game Gear, that would have been best off all. XD

Where would the 15 AA batteries go?

I have one. The only real difference is the face. It's not just a paint job, the entire molding of the top half of the unit is different. The Start button is round instead of that wierd half-football-with-a-nipple on the original Game Gear, and all three buttons are convex.

Also: You can't really tell because it doesn't photograph well, but the gold color in the design is actually a metallic gold, with metal flake like you'd see in the grain of a car's paint job or something. It's neat.

Here's a picture of the Virtua Fighter Kids Gear...

(found here (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=385918&page=3))

So it's the same size as a regular Game Gear, and is only different in the top shell? Or are there other changes, to the back and such? Same battery life, screen, etc? About all I know about this is what has been said in this thread and that one, I don't think I've heard of the Kids Gear before... and that's not much information.
