What do you guys use to clean your wii games ( or any other disc based games)

Hi guys. I would like to know what you guys use t clean your wii games (or other cd/dvd games) In the past i have used 100% cotton cloths and Windex. I have noticed that this can leave very thin scratches though. Im not sure if this is do to the way the wii disc's are made or what.

I heard someone say that microfiber cloths for eye glasses work great.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks.

Comet and a brand new Brillo pad works great for me.
Seriouly, I use the little CD cleaner spray that comes with a cleaning cloth. Almost every store has their own verson, but they work great and the cloth is made so it doesn't scratch the disc. The are usually about $7-10. Get one, they last forever.

That sounds about right... A little spray bottle of water (all you need really, cleaners have stuff in them which may or may not effect the disk - tap water is pretty safe) and a microfiber cloth (they have optical cloths that are mf... I can't tell the difference) works just as well. Wipe from center ring to edge in straight lines. Pretty basic.

The packaged kits are overboard really. You're just getting a mf cloth and a small bottle of distilled water anyway. You can buy the cloth and the bottle separately for a few bucks.

I just use my t shirt usually to wipe the game off. A kleenex also works fine as well.

I usually take toilet paper and wad it into a ball. Don't worry about the multiple jagged edges. Just scrub away.

microfiber cloth and eyeglass spray. I get the spray refilled for free by my optometrist's office, and I also get cloths for free. Just stop in to a couple different optometrists and ask. You'll probably get some free stuff with their logo/info on it.

I also use eyeglass spray to clean discs (mind you, my game discs don't usually need to be cleaned, but rather the DVDs I'd take out at the library -- people are really not careful with them).

I'm always careful about handling my discs the proper way (hold by edges or center).

However, when I get a used game that's chock full of fingerprints, smudges, etc.; I use a little water (no additives!) and a super soft eye glass cleaning cloth. No scratches or scuffs!

For discs that have finger prints/dust/spots I use clean water and non abrasive liquid soap and clean with a vertical motion using my thumb or a soft cloth. Anything else I have tried can leave very small streak scratches.

I've been gifted with children who understand how I feel about my game collection and they are very good about holding discs the correct way and putting things back in the correct cases. I've never had to wipe a fingerprint off a single disc in my house. My son tells me horror stories of when visiting friends how they just take a disc out and put it on the floor in the little pile of discs and cases saying they'll put it away later.

With items I buy used (or new from Gamestop, the bastards, taking "new" out of the case to store behind counter) I run the disc under water briefly and wipe out from the center with a tissue. I don't usually have to worry about it again.

Take care of your damn games, and use the actual game case to store the game(don't use crappy plastic, massive CD holders).

If you do that, at most you might accidently get a finger smudge or a hair/small amount of dust on it, inwhich case all you need is to wipe it with a dry T-shirt(silk is the best to use, but basically any shirt will do).

When I notice that the game is grimy/dirty/smudgy, I use a piece of toilet paper with 70% alcohol and carefully clean from the inside out, straight lines. Cleans perfect and when done properly (and with soft tissue) no scratches.

Now that I got my JFJ Easy Pro, I buy scratched up discs (CIB of course) and I right away polish the discs to both clean and remove all scratches.

Oh Jesus don't use Windex dude! I would just use a damp, soft cloth. Don't use that shitty Monster spray or iKlear or anything like that.

Ever since I got the JFJ Easy Pro (mentioned above), I will not turn back. It's simply fantastic!

It's great to get CD's that won't load because of horrible scratches, placing the disc in the resurfacer, and polish the thing to make it look as it was purchased new. Almost 90% without any scratches and the other 10% with only one or two superficial, hairline scratches that are very hard to see.

Then I pop in the discs and BAM! They work like new!

The machine costs $200 (or $150 directly from the manufacturer, before shipping), but it's well worth it if you buy lots of used games.

The only problem is that you may need lots of supplies in the future, but I plan on offering disc repairs around my areat at $5 a DVD (local stores offer then at $10+ PER disc!)

Highly recommended machine. Now I plan on getting rid of those Disc Doctor's I had spares off!

For a long time I had this big box of individually wrapped alcohol wipes, intended to be used for wiping your hands. They worked very well.

I use alcohol wipes that are intended for eyeglasses. Guaranteed not to scratch, and the alcohol won't eat into the plastic either.

Is the Wii extra sensitive to scratches and dirty disks? I recently bought 2 used games and neither worked. Some of my used Gamecube discs look far worse and they play flawlessly(in my Wii no less). I returned one of the games but the other is one I really want to keep(new SMB). It looked decent at the store but when I looked at home under bright light I could see small scratches all over it.

I've heard Gamestop and other stores will clean and do scratch removal for cheap. How well does that work? What do they look like afterwards? I'm afraid it won't be returnable if it looks disc doctored.

Why can't people just take care of their stuff?!?!?

While I can't comment on disc resurfacing, I can tell you that at least some Wiis are extra sensitive to scratches, and for that matter, tiny specs of dust. Mine used to be like that and was one of the afflicted Wiis that couldn't play Brawl. Officially the problem is a dirty lens, but really the laser isn't getting enough power. After increasing the power to the laser to a proper level all my problems went away.

It's just odd because some of my used gamecube discs look like they were dragged through muddy gravel and they work just fine on my Wii. I asked a local game store and they said they can professionally resurface the disc to where it looks and plays like new for $4, but they send it out and it takes a week. I only have until next Sunday to return it if I have to so I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point.
