Kitsune, how much are you looking to get for that model?

I've heard that the Intellivision PS1 game wasn't all that good. Something about having to replicate the keypad with an analog joystick. I own a copy, but I honestly don't remember a thing about it, so it must not have been good. See if you can find a copy of Intellivision Lives! for the PC/Mac. Far better, although the Mac version is OS 9 I believe (at least mine is).

I have Intellivision Lives! for the original Xbox and I think it was decent. I ended up getting distracted and played a bunch of Colecovision stuff instead anyway...Miner 2049er is still great, but the coleco controllers are still tuff to master.

I dunno. I -was- thinking of listing it for $30 shipped on eBay since it's new and it's different from all the other completed listings. It's probably not worth that much, though. I can't find stores with this exact model for sale, so I can't compare prices - all I found was a site with this for sale for $20.

Edit:
Doh. I just found average prices going around $10 for this. :( Foiled again. :P

... a special offer for porn DVDs waiting for me.

But, how did they find you in the first place? :p

I didn't find too much special today...just a minty CIB copy of Legendary Wings (NES). I paid $12.60 for it and I still feel like I got gypped!

Call of Duty World at War (360) Loose - $2

Ironically, they had a loose SOTN in their glass case marked $29.98, but this complete copy was sitting out for half the price. I'm not complaining! :)

I stopped at a game kiosk in the Mall of America a couple of years ago, and they had two identical cart-only copies of Bubble Bobble (NES) at very different prices. I just figured that the person pricing the games actually knew very little about the market and would just check ebay before slapping a sticker on each game as it came in. Kinda sounds like the case in your situation! Great find, though!

My other guess would be if the caseless version was the non-GH disc. Which if somebody was looking to replace their non-GH disc might be much more appealing. It's what we did at the store I work at about a year ago. In fact, the caseless copy sold almost immediately while the GH sat around for awhile longer.

Could've been a former rental? They just gut the manual and leave the front page for display purposes while the innards are forever lost :(

Now that you mention it, the loose disc was a black label disc. I'd say you were exactly right, but when I was checking out the girl said that she oversaw the game department and my copy had somehow "slipped through" and she hadn't seen it.

I never have much to post here, but here's something

Final Fantasy 7 (ps1, disks only)
Final Fantasy Tactics (ps1, disk only)
Silent Hill (ps1, disk only)
Xbox system
2 first party controllers plus hook-ups
Halo 1, 2
some other random games for the system

All free from a regular customer who just gave them to me since he sold off his entire collection and those were the last items he had. PS1 games for me, the xbox is going to my friends kid.

Finds for today:

Super Mario Kart $3
Super Adventure Island $3
Tetris Attack $3 (cart has a Hollywood Video sticker on it from Kansas City. I thought it was cool how stuff goes to all sorts of different places so I left it on, and it would be a bitch to get off.)

My find of a life time!!!:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4048/4391662057_52c9de6a4e.jpg

Now I know what you are thinking to yourself "Why the heck would GTA and Dodgeball be finds of a lifetime? Well it's not what they are but how I got them. So sit back, grab a coke and enjoy.

A few weeks ago I was at Rogers trying to spend the points remaining on my points card but I couldn't find anything. My girlfriend found a couple movies she wanted to rent though so she goes through the till and they offer her a coupon book which I am able to use my points on. I get it and we get a couple movies for free and some popcorn but there is also 2 buy one get one coupons for previously played games, that being the main reason I buy it.

Well time goes by and I use the first one and then we are driving around last night and come across another Roger's. Since I still have one more buy one get one coupon that has to be used by the 5th I figure why not check it out. Go in look at the games. GTA has a really old sticker on it, it's actually only 14.99 as I had seen at another location. So I grab dodgeball and GTA and go through the till.

As I'm going through the cashier mentions about how expensive dodgeball is at 20 bucks, so my girlfriend tells him that he could lower it and that Blockbuster's has done it for her in the past. He kinda laughs and says "If you can answer a trivia question correctly I'll give you both games for free and I'll give you your coupon back" My girlfriend jumps at the chance so he asks his question "GTA Liberty City stories for the PSP was recalled, why?" At this point I start to shit myself because I know that somewhere in my tiny little video game obsessed brain I know the answer. So I give the only response that makes any sense to me "It was recalled because it was used to hack the PSP" He stares at me for a second and tells me that I'm right, so he rings through the games using whatever code it is. Hands me the games and then we start talking about his collection.

I am still stunned that A: I knew the answer and B: that he actually stuck to it. Even this morning it seems impossible that I actually got them for free from a chain store.

Found Donkey Kong 3 NES and a SNES Jr. style controller, $1 for both.

I also saw an NES with Duck Tales, composite cable and Zapper for 5.99. No power although I tested it with a Genesis Model 1 adapter that was in the thirft store and got the blinking power light. Whether this was the result of incorrect watt value (NES 17W Genesis 35W) or due to the dirty 72pin connector I don't know but I don't have an NES adapter at home to confirm and if I was to get it I would've only wanted to sell a functional system.

So I finally got around to going game shopping. Mainly because of this topic, and a call from my dad where he mentioned seeing a ton of games at a toy show he was at. (Didn't remember the titles and didn't pick anything up because I didn't hear him call).

Anyway, went to a resale shop first where I found Tortoise and the Hare for $1

Then I stopped at a used games, music, and video store where I picked up Blast Corps for $3.99 (on sale). I was upset about this sale later on, but one place at a time. They had a lot of games, but they were not anything I was going to pay for. One game worth noting was River City Ransom which they had for $25. Not bad, but I didn't really feel like spending that much on a single game.

Then I tried to stop at another resale shop, but I got there after it had already closed. I'd blame it all on taking too long in the previous store, but my GPS messing up a little has some blame to share.

After that I went to a Goodwill where I picked up the Diddy Kong Racing tape you see there. They also had Double Dribble for $2, and two PS1s loose for $8.99, but I passed because I had no need for them.

Finally I went to another used games, music, and video store that I had been to previously. I was amazed at what they had in. Let's just say I wish my wallet was lined with money so I could have purchased everything:
-Chrono Trigger x3 -$43 each
-Secret of Mana -$25
-Contra III -$15
-Harvest Moon -$59.99
-EARTHBOUND!!!! - $79.99
-Gunstar Heroes -$16
-The Adventures of Batman and Robin -$25
(All prices what I think they were sold for)
And quite a few more games I'm probably forgetting. I didn't have enough money of course to buy everything. They also had Blast Corps for $2 there, so I was a bit upset I had actually bit on the buying it earlier. So I instead left with some other games I was happy to find:
Perfect Dark $3.99, Kirby's Adventure $5.99, Dynamite Heady - $2.99, Alex Kidd in Miracle World - $3.99.

I once saw a woman asking about some NES games at a flea, and the woman told her they were $2 in Spanish. A minute later I asked her how much they were, and she wanted $5 for them.
I guarantee if you would have asked in Spanish she would have said $2. I always get better deals at the swap meet talking in Spanish because if you don't they think you are a stupid white boy.

Heh. It's backwards for me. There's one or two English speaking vendors. I usually speak nothing but Spanish because well, about 95% of the people at the flea market are Mexican or speak Spanish. :P Whenever these vendors speak back to me in broken Spanish, I respond in English.

Sometimes it's just less of a hassle for them to talk to people in their native tongue.

While out of town, I stopped into a few gaming stores and picked up:

Pinball of the Dead (GBA) - CIB. I've been kicking myself for the past 5 years on passing this up when Wal*Mart had them clearanced for $10, but now I finally have it :)

Starlancer (DC) - CIB. Marked down from $26.99 (ouch) to $3.99!

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (DS) - NIB. The Gamestop here is selling these new for only $9.99! Best of all, it was still shrinkwrapped!

Wandered around yesterday to a bunch of places thanks to an urge I got to go digging after reading the Alfador Neo-Geo Craigslist find and the crazy sealed Stadium Events fiasco on eBay Friday. It wasn't an amazing day for games, but what I managed to scoop up:
NES:
Adventure Island (L - $1)
The Last Ninja (L - $1)
Elevator Action (L - $3)
Went to a pawn shop and stumbled across these among a bunch of desirable games and although I'd been holding out on buying AI and EA for a long time I just finally broke down and bought them. Had to look up The Last Ninja wondering what the hell it was, hitting the DP guide and watching a YouTube clip on the mobile made me pick it up.

PS2:
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (C - $5)
At one of the local game stores they amazingly had GH2 and 3 for $5 each, and multiple copies. I wasn't aware of the huge price drop in their rates, almost bought a copy for $15 earlier in the week (well, not really LOL). I guess the GH craze is over due to the over-saturation for the past few years? Either way, new tunes to rock to. :guitar:

PC:
Maabus (CIB - $3)
At the earlier pawn shop this poor adventure game was standing out from the surrounding CD jewel cases of common PC titles. It has a nice box and foam inserts with a cool instruction manual and other goodies, couldn't pass it up.

At some thrift stores I picked up a bunch of records and CDs which I'll post in the appropriate threads. On another note though, at a different game store I pick up some comic books:
Superman War of the Worlds
Superman Birthright (issues #1-12)
Total was $8 and figured once I finished reading New Krypton I'd start on these.

I stopped posting prices because no one seemed interested, and it's typically nothing spectacular. I'll fix up my post with the rest + prices.

This is what the Columns cartridge looks like - it's the only one I could find on eBay. The stickers seem to be arbitrarily placed on the cartridge on case by hand. I've got a CIB copy and can't find any information on it, so I'll take you at your word for it Nayus.

And me.

Agreed. And "finds" to me means more than "Got the <newest release game name> in the mail from Amazon today." I post a lot of stuff from game shops and even those I don't qualify as "finds" unless the price is ridiculous. Thrift stores, garage sales, old box in the attic, etc. - those are finds.

So: A story or description of a true "find" along with the price is what we're looking for in this thread.

Shadow Kisuragi
02-28-2010, 10:28 PM
Yeah, that's why I was intentionally leaving the price off. I don't really consider my purchases as true "finds", as they are carried by places where I would expect to find them and for comparable prices to eBay. I do pay more than eBay prices at times, but that's because I enjoy the hunt and it gives me a story behind the game besides "I found it on eBay".

In any case, the finds thread these days is more of a "What did you get?" instead of a "What interesting item did you pick up/run into?".

Here's a story for you Deadman:
I got an FC Twin recently as part of a payment for my car (which a friend of a friend purchased), which sparked another friend's interest. I picked up an FC3+ for him and he's been starting to get back into collecting. I've been selling/giving him some of my games and replacing them with CIB versions, but it's been interesting getting calls every couple days hearing "I remember this game...do you have it?" It's part of the reason I got back into collecting - being able to share memories of the classics with friends and finding new classics to play.

I love to hear what anyone gets as I read every single entry in this thread. And stories of thrifts or fleas are as entertaining as they come! Bring em on!

Very cool! I recently gave a friend one of my extra Genesis consoles because her original one from 93 had just started acting up. Since then, she's begun to play it again more and more because her 13 and 9 year old kids are really getting into the classic platformers on the system. We regularly talk about what they are playing, and I will get them new games to play to keep their interest up. It's fun to share these games with friends!

My friend has a CDX and a Neo Geo AES. His CDX has been at my place for a while, so I've been enjoying it every so often. Typically when he comes over, we'll hook up his camera and play through a couple games so that he can upload them to his YouTube channel. We played through Final Fight CD and Cadilliacs & Dinosaurs: The Second Cataclysm last time.

We're planning a runthrough on Keio Flying Aces and Snatcher next time he's over. He tried out Snatcher while he was over last time, and it was interesting tossing in names to the computer. I never knew Hideo Kojima liked Zaviga...

In any case, I've got the top 2 most valuable Sega CD games CIB now for decent prices (~$100 for Keio, ~$90 for Snatcher). I think I'll start focusing on finishing my US Sega CD collection. I'm up to 32 total now.

Some interesting finds yesterday:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/hellvin/2010-03-01111730.jpg

Four factory sealed copies of Star Tropics for 8 bucks each. It's a common game and I actually have one sealed already making that 5 copies I own total. I really debated wether or not to pick them up but decided at worst they'd make decent trade material. These were all at Bookman's. They're in excellent condition and all still have plastic hang tabs stuck to the back. They were having "moustache day" at Bookman's, so my facial hair saved me an extra 10%. Alllll Right!

Also got this stuff at the same Bookman's:

NES - Cleaning Kit (complete) - 4
NES - Double Dragon (complete) - 8
PC - Space Quest Collection...8, can't wait to replay all these!

Then at Goodwill:

PC - Codename: Iceman (complete) - 2
PC - Space Quest III (complete) - 3

Gotta love complete big box PC games. Both of these were decent Sierra titles so I grabbed them. Funny finding a boxed Space Quest game after buying the collection the same day, haha.

Also pictured is Mr. Do's Castle for 2600 which I bought from FanOPants for 40 shipped, thanks again man!

I picked up Super Mario Strikers (GC) yesterday for $11.99 at a local gaming store. I've wanted to get it for awhile, but the only place that I could find it was Gamestop and they have some pretty ridiculous prices for 1st party Nintendo games.

It's mostly since GameStop overprices them. You actually got a decent deal on Strikers.

I probably just got lucky, since this store hastily marked LOZ: Windwaker from $13.99 up to $29.99, and very sloppily; the old price sticker/barcode was still visible underneath. If I didn't have this title, I would've just peeled off the new price tag and brought it up to the register :)

They also had Elder Scrolls: Morrowind GOTY (Xbox) priced at $29.99. Am I missing something here?

I would have, but I couldn't find a single thing today other than a copy of Halo 2 for Windows that I left behind because the damn thing won't run on XP.

Aslo found most of the peices for G1 Devastator and a Starfox 64 cart. Not a bad day at the office?)

My favorite combiner of them all! Make sure the pieces aren't from a Korean or Chinese knockoff, though!

You have to look for when they have deals on used games. I think they actually had Strikers for either $15 or $10 a few weeks ago. I managed to pick up Luigi's Mansion from them that same week for $5. Of course the first copy I bought didn't work, but thankfully I was able to exchange it before my "warranty" was up.

I've never seen one of these NES-FC adapters before. For my purposes, it's fairly pointless, but it's still fun to have. I think my favorite find this weekend was Fantastic Dizzy for Genesis. This was a game that I always wanted to play when I was a kid, but never got the chance. This copy is complete with manual, hint card, registration card, poster, and it's one of those fun, wacky Codemaster cartridges. I'm also happy that I found the chorus pedal; Boss pedals are expensive at retail, so I'm more than happy to take them off peoples' hands for not a lot of money.

And yes, I know I overpaid for the NES games, but initially the seller was charging $3 each, or two for $5. He had about 20-25 games in total. I wanted 4 games in particular, so I asked if he'd go any lower if I purchased "a few" games, but he said no. I almost gave up, but blurted out that I'd give him $20 for 10 games. He thought about it for a few seconds and finally agreed. I picked out the four games that I specifically wanted, chose another six, and handed over the cash. I cringed a few seconds later when I realized that I'd just forked over $20 for 10 bare cart NES games, but... what're you gonna do?

Lastly, I'm pleased to pick up Micro Machines V3. I've never tried this particular MM game, but I own a few of the others and most of them are a lot of fun, especially when you have the maximum allowable number of players.

Anyway, looks like we'll be getting rain next weekend (again), so these few finds might have to last me a while. Congrats on everyone else's recent pick-ups!
