Searched the board and was surprised not to see a thread for the game, that is unless I looked over it.

I picked this up for the PS2 today and spent a couple of hours with it, so far I find it to be pretty impressive. It's a complete re-imagining of the original Silent Hill and instead of making a rehash of the original game, they went a head and basically created an entire new one. Nothing plot wise has changed much, Harry is still searching for his daughter in Silent Hill and weird crap still happens.

One major thing they did add was a I-Touch type cellphone with which you can use a GPS as a map, take pictures of certain objects, make phone calls to any number you see throughout the town and receive some pretty weird text and voice messages. As a result, you get rather interesting stories from the town, I've found myself more interested on finding out more about the messages I receive than trying to find my silly lost daughter.

My only complaint so far are the weird chase sequences from time to time when you encounter enemies, not sure if they won't get repetitive, but that's the direction I see them going as of right now. Hopefully there's more to it than "run through random doors" later on in the game.

Overall I wish we got this on the PS3/360 instead of Homecoming, since it would have been really visually impressive, not to mention it's also more enjoyable than anything that POS had to offer.

Was wondering about the PS2 version vs. the Wii version on this one....

I really enjoyed the game on the Wii. I was glad I purchased it when I did, as it offered (for me) a great experience.

I played the PSP version, and it is quite impressive graphically, but it's still obvious the differences between it and the Wii version (Wii is way more "powerful", which means much better graphics). Also, I loved the use of the Wii controller, as it gives a bit more freedom in this game.

The "nightmare levels" are a bit of a pain the first time around, though. Love the different endings, though some are very sad and touching.

Many diss the game for being a re-imagening, but I loved it.

Also, the ending was a complete shocker and for some, tearful. Never expected what happened.

And the song "Acceptance" and "Hell Frozen Rain"...I love them!

I hope more games of it's type continue to appear. It played great on the Wii.

Boring, and little point of enduring. That is all.

Truer words hath never been spoken.

Shattered Memories is one of those games that I didn't really LIKE, but have to respect. It does so many interesting things that I forgive it it's grievous faults. I felt the same way about the newest Alone in the Dark, too: not very good, but when everything in the game aligns just right, you can have some amazing moments.

When it inevitably hits the ten dollar bin, I'll probably pick up the PS2 version. I'd like to see how it differs from the Wii.

You need to give it a chance.

I thought the same of Shenmue when it was released. But I forced myself to give it a chance, and I am glad I did. It's one of the best games I ever played on the Dreamcast.

However, there is very little replay value once the player knows where everything is.

Just beat this and I am happy to say that I was very pleased with the game, although it's probably one of the shortest games I've played in quite some time. Despite the Nightmare scenarios, Climax took a very bold approach to the series and it worked out very well. If they choose to make a sequel and are able to improve on the games faults, it would be safe to say that the franchise is in very good hands.

I'll snag the PS2 version once it gets clearanced. I'm a big Silent Hill fan but I need to stop spending so much.

Was the soundtrack still given away as bonuses when the PS2 and PSP versions were released?
