There's a GameXchange off of Beckett Street on the northwest side of the Pierre Bossier Mall, located in a stubby little strip mall. Nice place. And there's a couple stores called Replays, one in Bossier City on Benton Road and one off of Youree Drive in Shreveport, I believe it's across the street from the Barnes & Noble and Kroger. But they haven't had a lot of classic games the last time I stopped by, especially the one in Bossier City. That one was almost empty of cartridge games.

Those are the main ones I tend to hit when I pass through town. As far as thrift stores go, the times I've hit the ones in town I end up leaving empty-handed.

Too bad you aren't going there on a weekend, there's some flea markets to hit along the way that are sometimes good. The one out in Greenwood has been hit or miss in the past. There was even an arcade cab there, a Donkey Kong that had been converted to an 8-Ball Action. The past couple times I've stopped since then, there's almost nothing interesting.

I'm glad you didn't ask for anyplace decent to eat in Shreveport, I wouldn't have been able to tell you much. Something else I tend to go looking for in town are good local restaurants, preferably Cajun. Not too many decent places there.

Sounds like shreveport is dead where classic gaming is concerned.

Yeah, pretty much. My sister lives in Monroe which is even worse, there's nothing there except a Play N Trade that puts their classic games in a case, half of which aren't even for sale because they're the owner's personal collection!

Dallas has really blown up in the past couple years as far as classic games go. It's kind of got me spoiled. When I go to another town, it seems dry as a bone. Doesn't keep me from looking, though.

The play n trade owner has his own games on display??? I live right down I20 in grand prairie and visit the one by the parks mall weekly and they don't do that....that's really odd. I dunno sometimes that place is hit or miss. There prices are just.....i dunno sometimes they have great prices and others....I just dunno...game boy games are pretty much always cheap. Last time I picked anything up from there it was wacky races for the nes. 15.00 so I wasn't complaining at all.

Nah for good Cajun food you need to hit well south of Alexandria. ;)

Also thanks for the heads up on how dry gaming is in Shreveport, I wanted to check the place out sometime to try and find things, you've saved me a trip. Heck we have a couple Play N Trades about 25 miles apart here, 1 weekend only flea market/swap met (open only on Saturday and Sunday, days I'm rarely off to go check), and 2 pawn shops.

Yes it is. My nephew gripes about it a lot, since it's the only non-GameStop game store in town, and he wants a couple of the games in the case but the owner won't sell them. Play N Trade stores are individually owned and licensed from the parent company, so I guess they can do whatever they want to. I like that store personally, when I bought an Atari 2600 in Monroe without controllers in a thrift I went to Play N Trade looking for joysticks and he dug a couple bootless controllers out of the back and gave them to me free. So now he's got my respect.

Yeah, I've discovered that. There are one or two decent little places, like Herby-K's for example. A little restaurant that's been open for 70 (!) years, and their neighborhood (pretty much all of Shreveport, pretty much) has seriously gone downhill since they opened up. It's the kind of area you might want to drive an armored car through. But still, good Shrimp Busters.

I miss the food in south Louisiana. :(
