does this mean even if there where a few xbox 360s with say flatout
the frist one and all tryed to go online it would not work i think it not fair
for people like me never play on the old xbox live because i did not have a master card/visa card/american express i did have a xbox always wanted to go live but never had the bank card to do so

Xbox 1 support is being discontinued. It doesn't matter if the game is played on the original console, the original disc using the 360's BC emulator, or a Xbox Original's download. Downloadable content and patching, online high score tables, and online multiplayer are all going away on April 15th.

All this DLC/etc will be playable on a modded xbox forever.

Alternate networks will pop up for people to still do some kind of multiplayer, a hacked version of Live - whatever... the homebrew crowd will pick up the torch. It just won't be mainstream anymore.

And free hopefully. Damn, this is really making me want to go get some more Xbox games... In before the lock and all.

The Digiex forum has been archiving Xbox DLC for a little over a year now (http://digiex.net/downloads/download-center-2-0/consoles-homebrew/675-xbox-offline-xbox-live-downloadable-content-dlc-installers.html). They seem to have a fairly comprehensive library as of now, but are still missing the DLC to some games. (

This is exactly what I was looking for. Now I know which of my factory sealed Xbox games I need to open for updates and downloads before that dreaded day of April 15 arrives. Isn't that tax day?

I just spent the better part of the last two hours downloading content for eleven different games. Each required a minor update before being able to get the DLC. Surprisingly, some of the DLC actually cost money. And then there were games like DDR: Ultramix 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront II that both had free and paid DLC. Either way, I'm all done now and more than prepared for D-Day(April 15th). Long live original Xbox live:(

Microsoft should still release a compilation of discs featuring DLC content for all their games once the service has ended. Even if it's directly through them, people will purchase these discs, as it's a legitimate way to play DLC on their Xbox consoles.

I don't think there is that much demand to warrant the pressing of that type of disk set and working in an install system off those disks (which would take at least some dev time). Not to mention all the licensing from the different publishers who's content they'd be distributing, which only increases sunk costs... IF made a reality, the set could be feasibly $100 or more to offset. The idea is a bridge to nowhere, so to speak. :)

Most Xbox games can be had for a couple of bucks CIB (reflecting the low demand in general)... And most interested in getting the DLC stuff this late in the game either have or will get a modded system, then get all of it off the internet.

They are too focused on 360 customers to be worried about what original Xbox owners want. And to their credit, atleast they put all this content back up for grabs once they made D-Day public.
