I was cataloging my Genesis collection today and run into a conundrum. Here's what I have:

- Box w/ Seal of Quality, pink text for Ms. Pac-Man, red text for Tengen
- Color Manual w/o Seal of Quality, pink text for Ms. Pac-Man, white text for Tengen
- Cart w/ Seal of Quality, yellow text for Ms. Pac-Man, red text for Tengen
- Cart w/o Seal of Quality, pink text for Ms. Pac-Man, white text for Tengen

I know there's a Majesco cardboard re-release out there that has the Seal of Quality and a B&W manual as well.

My question is: Which of these match? Did someone at Tengen become colorblind at some point? I can't seem to find a matching box for the cartridge without the Seal of Quality.

As an interesting note:
The text on the one without the SoQ states: Manufactured by Sega Enterprises Ltd. for play on the SEGA GENESIS SYSTEM.

The text on the one with the SoQ states: Manufactured for play on the SEGA GENESIS SYSTEM (and has a black sticker across the back, which means it's probably the Majesco cardboard re-release. #$#@. Why can't I just get a standard set for 1 box?!)

EDIT: I think I found my answer. The cartridge w/o the SoQ was made in Japan, as was my box. The catridge and box w/ the SoQ was made in U.S.A. Can anyone back this up with one of their CIB copies? The manual looks like it was never reprinted to match, so I think I'm okay on that end.

...actually, the box made in Japan has the same legal text as my USA cartridge. Does anyone have a box that matches the non-SoQ legal text?

I noticed the pink text/yellow text thing a while back myself. I have a box from a pink one bought new I believe that has a B&W manual.

...so, it seems the kicker that I've found is that only the cartridge is the variant. All of the cartridges I've seen online with the box (which is only a few) all have a "Made in Japan" box.

Does anyone happen to have the cardboard one handy so that it can be registered in rfgeneration?

I don't have access to them right now but I have 6 or 7 different Ms. Pac-Man variants in my collection.

nebrazca, are you including region manufactured and Genesis-specific in that number, or just Genesis-specific? I only know of 3 variants for Genesis now, not including region.

I'm just talking about U.S. released Ms. Pac-man games.

I think there are four different made in Japan releases, two different made in USA releases and then the Majesco release. There might even be more than one variation of the Majesco release.

Well, I've got the two variants that I have up on rfgeneration now. Feel free to add the variants that you know of :)

Added ~10 variants and updated game information for about 30 different titles as well...and that's not even including scans or images for anything. I started adding the info after I got through half of my Genesis collection.
