If you've looked at your games and system, the product number for them begins with "NTR".

All of Nintendo's other systems have theirs after the system's code name.

GBA: AGB (Advance Game Boy ???)
GCN: DOL (Dolphin)
Wii: RVL (Revolution)
DS: NTR (???)

It's interesting to note that a lot of DS games have DS as their initials, such as Advance Wars: Dual Strike. There exists a game with NTR as its initials - Yu-Gi-Oh! Nightmare Troubadour. As such, promotional trading cards included with the game (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Silent_Magician_LV8) also bear a product code beginning with "NTR".

You're looking into it too much with the Nightmare Troubadour thing, Beta, I guarantee. :)
It actually stands for Nitro.

From wikipedia...

"The system's code name was Nitro, and this can be seen in the model number that appear on the unit (NTR-001). The console's name officially refers to "Developers' System", in reference to developers of new game designs the system was meant to inspire, and "Dual Screen", the system's most obvious and distinct feature."

I think it's Nitro.

Pretty sure that was the "codename" for the DS.

Damn you for beating me jb! :)

Nightmare Troubadour is too random of a thing for it to be anything other than intention. Not to mention the game was announced a good year before DS even came out.

The original GameBoy and it's accessories all started with "DOL" as well. Hmm...

I thought the original Game Boy was DMG (for "Dot Matrix Game"), not DOL.

Same here, lol.

I never knew it's code name was Nitro, that's cool.

He is right. I meant to ask about that too, but forgot.

Does anyone else feel white-hot animal rage towards the Gamecube being abbreviated as GCN? It may be official, but it's just stupid. There is no N in Gamecube. I hate it. Ok. I'm done.

yep you're right DMG is the gameboy code, and also for some GBC games that are still playable on the gameboy classic

It's as in "GameCube by Nintendo", I believe. Hence the GCN abbreviation.

I understand that. It's just an irrational complex I have, like when people use M$, as if they were the only company in the world out to make money.
