I found a loose copy of Terranigma European English PAL version at a local vintage game store. I happened to notice a European SNES game sitting on a shelf behind the checkout counter but couldn't quite make out what it was. I asked the owner of the store what game that was back there. He picked it up and handed it to me, and I was shocked to see that, not only was it an import, but freakin' Terranigma! I had wanted the game since reading about it on the Internet. Talk about an odd place to find it (being in the U.S.).

I asked the owner how much he wanted for it or if it were even for sale since it wasn't out on the shelves with the other games. He couldn't really remember how he came into possession of it and wasn't really interested in keeping it since he (and most customers that come into his store) couldn't play it, so he said I could have it for $10. Sold!

And that's how I got a minty copy of Terranigma without using ebay. :)

Wow, nice. Was it a repro or the Famicom version?
I doubt it would be a repro, since the seller didn't know what it was. And not only that, if it was on a cart by itself (as opposed to a multicart), it must have been a pirate copy from the '80s or '90s...quite the find!
