I'm Getting a PS3, need more advice

Alright guys, I have yet another question. I’m going to finally buy a PS3. Is the 250GB worth the extra 50 bucks. If the Playstation Network is anything like the virtual console for the wii or wiiware, I plan on downloading many games. So will I run out of space anytime soon? I’m not really sure how big the downloadable games are.

Now for what games to buy with the system. I’m looking for the cheap games that have been out for awhile. Anything from the 20 dollar or less bin. The games I was looking at are Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, BioShock, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Tomb Raider Underworld, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, and probably some good racing game. I have to get the Lego Star Wars game as that will probably be the only game that me and my 8 year old kid can play together. I wanted to get 2 or 3 more, any suggestions? I know all these games have been out for awhile but I have never played any of them nor have I ever even picked up a PS3 controller.

Alright, one more question, is there a list on the web somewhere that will show me what is all available for download on the Playstation Network?

I would say yes. With the amount of games that force install in the system, you will eventually fill up the HDD if you don't delete previous installations (of games you don't play with). Plus, if you plan on playing movies and storing them on the PS3 (music and pictures as well), it's a definite yes.

Most of the games are small, with some exceptions.

If you want some good deals on ps3 games , you should check amazon and half.com. And you shouldn't be worrying about how much space the games are going to take cause it will take a long time until you can fill up 250gb.

And if you want to see what is available to download on ps network , just check the official playstation sites. I personally wouldn't buy full ps3 games on psn , you will be paying full retail however the psone classics are a great deal. If you want to get further use out of a ps3 , I recommend trying to get netflix for it (if you havent already gotten for 360 or wii)

For the love of God, please make sure you buy a cheap PS3 exclusive- you could just buy a 360 arcade otherwise and save yourself the money.

I'll also definitely agree with going for Uncharted and Valkyria Chronicles. While not being 19.99, I'll also say that GTA4 is the best multiconsole title and taking it online makes it even better.

If you can, I'd also recommend importing Siren Blood Curse/New Translation. The game is one of the best horror titles to come out in a long time. You'll want to import either the PAL or Asian version since those two have English. The Japanese version is Japanese only.

No don't spend $$ on a bigger HD, it takes 5 minutes to upgrade, buy a bigger HD and install it yourself, it does note even void the warranty. I think I upgraded about a year ago to a 320GB HD and that HD cost me $65 and I have the $60GB one as backup/external HD. If you have an 8 year old, get Little Big Planet my x-girlfriend picked it up so I'm sure your 8 yr old can. The GOTY just came out so the reg one can probably be had cheaply.

That makes since, I will go with the 120 GB. Now should I upgrade the HD right away, or if I wait a year and the 120 is filling up can I do it then and be able to transfer everything to the new HD?

Yeah, I plan on getting Little Big Planet when the price comes down a little more, or if I can get a cheap one off of ebay. I've heard nothing but good things about that game.

Thanks for the input, I was looking for a racing game and Motorstorm looks pretty good, plus its only $16.75 at amazon. I'll also be getting Uncharted eventually.

Definitely get the 250GB, especially if you plan on downloading a lot of demos, downloadable games etc. Also don't forget some games like Metal Gear Solid 4 require around 5GB of space to the HDD. The extra $50 is well worth it. As far as cheap games, uhm, Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted, Resistance: Fall of Man, Burnout: Paradise should be among your first choices.

Well I had to go with the 250 Gb. I wanted the 120 Gb but I ordered from Amazon and they were out at the time, But if I wanted the 120 GB I could have had it for 20 bucks shipping, or take the 250 GB with no shipping costs and no tax. So I went with the 250 GB.

This freakin machine is unbelievable. Is it sad that for the first month all I played was UNO. Oh well, I'm now on BioShock, one of the greatest games I've ever played

I also have Little Big Planet ready to give to my kid in a couple of weeks for her birthday. Apperantetly that is a fun game, cause that is the only thing she has played on it since I got it. Thank god for all those demos

I also have an external hard drive with over 500 movies and 500 tv shows, and believe it or not the PS3 plays them all. UNBELIEVABLE

Definitely get a 250GB since some games use alot memory not to mention if you are gonna be down loading movies as well.

Little Big Planet and Demon's Souls.

Little Big Planet is amazing because of all of the user-created content. It's not all great, but the gems are pretty great. I'd get this only if you're into really cute platformers.

Demon's Souls is wonderful and I strongly recommend it.

...hmmm, LBP you can find a GOTY edition for $30, I think ($30 is the new $20!). Demon's Souls is not going to be easy to find cheap...

Oh, and don't forget to get your Netflix streaming disc. heheh.
