Sega Genesis cardboard boxes

I was just playing through a bunch of my Sega Genesis' pile of untested games. One of the games I played was a CIB version of Bubsy In: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind. The version I have is in a yellow cardboard box, the size of the normal plastic Genesis box.

I've never seen another cardboard box like this. I have seen the flimsy paper boxes Sega used towards the end of its life :puke:

Are there many games out there in these weird cardboard boxes? Is it an Accolade thing? Do most of them have normal version, i.e. is there a Bubsy out there in a normal Genesis case?

It almost sounds like a 32x box, but that game wasn't on the 32x. I don't know what to tell you.

Well I looked on RFGeneration and it looks like their scan of the game box is the same yellow one that I have.

It was done by Accolade mainly, but other companies such as Ballistic did the same. You're talking about the shoebox-style boxes, correct?

Yes, I was talking about the shoebox style cardboard boxes. Thank you for the list and the thread.

Yeah, those boxes were all Accollade/Ballistic. Bubsy came in that box, as did Super Off Road, Double Dragon, and such.

Yeah, those are actually good boxes. Built well, good design, and sturdy. Things that the Sega carboard boxes never were.

Ive got a copy of turrican for the sega that has a box similar to that. I've also seen the box your talking about in the wild. Interesting take on the packaging with those titles.
