Depends on your preferences. Snes is difficult and sometimes cheap, but doable. Something gamers craving for a challenge might like. Gen is like the TGCD, only without the CD-quality music, animation or voiceovers. An easier, affordable option compared to buying an uber-expensive console until Ys III graces itself on Virtual Console. Like I said in the review, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Nice review! Although it's VERY underwhelming , I still somehow like the PS2 version as well but the best version, in my opinion of course, of "Wanderers from Ys" is the Turbo CD version and the best version of "Ys III" is Oath In Felghana :)

Since you showed the PSP version of Ys Ark of Napishtim does it mean you're going to review the PSP version or both PSP and PS2?
Even if you don't put any sort of detailed explanation. I'd like to know how much worse the load times on the PSP version are in comparison to the PS2 version. I might pick it up if the load times are comparable to the PS2 version.

The PS2 version wasn't released stateside. So I'm fairly sure he won't be discussing it, considering he skipped the Japanese NES version of Ys III. :p

The PS2 version was released over here, I own it. Both versions were localized by Konami.

I think Kitsune was referring to the PS2 version of Ys II and you were referring to Ys Ark of Napishtim, correct? If that is so, you are both correct :)

Ys: Ark of Napishtim is Ys VI, completely different game in the series. I'm fairly certain that the 3D Ys showed in his movie was the Ys III remake Oath of Felghana, again not Napishtim.

It's obvious the gameplay was pulled from Ys Oath in Felghana as he even stated that in his review if you purchance didn't know about the game. However, he did show the PSP case of Ys Ark of Napishtim and said it would be his next review.
Since you showed the PSP version of Ys Ark of Napishtim does it mean you're going to review the PSP version or both PSP and PS2?
My statement towards his next review was pretty clear. Not my fault you took it wrong. Why other than at the end of the review him showing the Ys Ark of Napishtim PSP box would I ask about to compare the PS2 and PSP about Ys6?

Save for 3d model vs 3d sprite, load times, fetch quests and anime cutscenes, you're practically talking for the same game either way. But, yes, I'll go into the difference on the next review.

Recently found out a Reproductions release for the NES version but that would set the review back a few weeks. So, I'll save that for later. Maybe do one for the Ys NES trilogy. ;)

One of these days I'm going to ask Deuce for the Felghana script and see if I can get someone to hack the NES version of Ys III to give me more space and hopefully expand the script. I'm not happy with how this turned out... (http://www.foxhack.net/trans/ys-iii-wanderers-from-ys/)

Hey Press Start, you may want to include the difference in load times between both the Phat and Slim PSPs for Ys.

Now when I originally heard about the load times, what I heard was that Ys had minute long load times per screen. The load times are at most 10 seconds for the phat, if even that(I think seven to eight seconds at most.)
With the slim though, it's Ys6 with one second long load times. Even the PS2 took longer to load than that. Also watching another PSP video, the menu loads quicker on the PSP version which takes about two seconds to load on the PS2 version.
Now aside from load times I've also heard that Ys6 has bad framerate problems. Not sure now if I'm supposed to believe that after seeing the minute long load times thing was a max of 10 seconds.
Anyways. Thought since I happened to see that online might as well let you know for your review if by perchance you only have the original PSP.
