Well, last night I decided to fix my jittery Atari paddles I bought in 2007 and forgot about since then because they played like total shit. After using a guide to repair it, (http://www.atariguide.com/help/care.htm)I decided to play some Super Breakout with it. I found my favorite playing sound in the game (a chime-like one that has a bit of reverb,) I tried to make the ball appear. I hit the fire button, and no ball. The sucker plays smooth now, but no fire button to launch the ball. I noticed a few months ago when I decided to take a look at it for once that one of the pins in the controller plug was slightly smashed inward, so I carefully used a pin to bend it back into shape. Now, what I really need is a diagram of the pin layout in it 9-pin connector, so I can figure out which pin does which on the paddle. Either way, anyone know what could be causing the fire button to not want to work?

Holy fucking hell, I lost pin 4. Well, they're broken and useless, I guess. If someone figures out how to switch the 1P and 2P fire button pins or knows how to use a joystick cable for a standalone paddle, tell me.

Can't you just cut off the whole plug and replace it with a plug from an extension cable? I see Genesis extension cables on eBay all the time.

Eh, I have a broken Atari 2600 stick that I could use for that.
