View Full Version : Where to get Apple-friendly 5.25 floppies for homebrew?

I've got an Apple game I worked on a lot around 1989-90 with a friend of mine, programmed in BASIC, and I'd like to finish it. It's got a lot of work already done, but I plan to finish it off, make damn sure it's fun, and release it as a homebrew of sorts, maybe even at some of the classic gaming shows in 2004. For those who remember Taipan, it's a lot like that - but it's also got a bit of space exploration, and a bit of an Ultima IV-style mind-your-morals element to it as well. It's also got the Borg, though I think I'll be renaming them, thankyouverymuch, Mr. Viacom Legal Team. :P Not very graphics-oriented, though this too may change as I graft new stuff onto the game.

Question is...where do I go about getting hold of some new, or NOS, 5.25 floppies that an Apple II can format? If I remember correctly, high-density PC-formatted floppies can't be reformatted in an Apple II disk drive - at least I never had any luck doing anything like that. I suppose it could just be released as an emulator disk image as well, though I honestly wouldn't know where to start on doing that.

Here (http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/apple/it.htm) is a write-up I did on it quite a while back, if anyone's interested.

I have a bunch I used for old save game files...if you can reformat those I'd be willing to send you some. :)

I'll give it a shot if no new/unused disks are forthcoming. :/
