flOw is free to download on PSN, today only

Forgive me if I missed a topic somewhere. I didn't see one. For PS3 owners, fl0w is free in the PSN store for today (2/13). They did something similar last year when Rag Doll Kung Fu was free for a day.

I am taking advantage of this. A free game is a free game.

Thanks for the tip, kupo. Will do that to see if they can help. Yet it's weird, because it appears on my "downloaded" list! And three other items I downloaded (including a pack for Fairytale Fights) all did so perfectly.

I called and the rep said that PR (he admitted that it's part of the US) is not blocked and should download....fucking prick lied!

Infact, I am "banned" from getting it since it's not a US IP.

So I was searching around, and a GameFaqs member found a run around (which in turn he found in www.joystick.com:


Step 1

Go to the Settings option in the XMB on the PS3. Select Network Settings. Press "X" for Internet Connection Settings.

Step 2

Select the Yes option if currently connected to the Internet. If you are not connected, this option is unavailable.

Step 3

Highlight the Custom option with the d-pad. Press the Right button on the controller. Select Auto-Detect and push "Right" again. Choose the Automatic IP setting and press "Right" to continue. Select "Do Not Set" on the DHCP host name screen. Push "Right" three times.

Step 4

Push the Down key to select Use on the Proxy Server screen.

Step 5

Insert the proxy: 66.90.92.61
Port: 8080

Step 6

Go to US PS Store and download free flOw.

Take that, Sony!

edit: glad to see you found a workaround, it is a pretty fun game. I've only ever gotten any trophies incidentally, but I looked up the list for this game and it looks like it will be fun to collect them.

I played very little, and it did a cycle once. But then I got to the 'end' of a stage where you eat the slightly more egg-like thingy. That takes you to a new level where you can eat a thing that looks like your former guy (and to another same cycle), or continue on in this new form through what seems to be a new set of levels. I had to quite at that point though. Sorry I don't have a better way to describe it.

But its odd, because every other download from that time, even before and after, worked great. Yet it was this title that caused the most headaches. In fact, after I tried unsuccessfully to download it, I went ahead to get the extra content for LBP and Fairytale Fights, and it took with no problem.

Unless that particular game was being serviced by another server, this doesn't make sense.

Oh well, at least the proxy thing worked.

Honestly this game SHOULD be free.

I must admit that their newest game though "flower" is so much better it's not even funny. I never really "got" flow, boring as hell to me.

I began the download at 11:59 that night. If they run on eastern time zone, I feel like I did something awesome. If not... well, I guess it wasn't as cool.
