Well, the biggest issue with getting a used Xbox 360 is that used Xbox 360's are typically like a ticking time bomb that could blow up at any minute. Right now, Wii's are a really hot commodity, because of a shortage at retail. At least where I live. My kids are trying to find a used Wii, and everybody on Craigslist is selling their Wii's for like $450 and crazy stuff like that. So I can see why the guy is willing to trade you. It's very hard to get a Nintendo Wii for a decent price right now.
Now, having said all of that, I don't think it's a bad idea to take advantage of this shortage situation, and turn your Wii into a Xbox 360, but you have to be smart about it. Whenever you get a used Xbox 360, you're definitely taking a risk, but, if you follow certain guidelines, you can mitigate that risk a bit. Here are some steps to follow:
1. Make sure the 360 isn't more that 18 months old. In fact, if possible, try to find one that isn't even a year old, if you can. On the back of the 360, it will give you the exact build date.
2. Make sure that the 360 has never been opened up, or tampered with. There are ways to check the security seals to see if it's never been tampered with. Do a Google search to find out more info about that. Be careful though, cause people use fake stickers and hairdryers to try to make it look like the security seal is the original one.
3. Try to get the 360 from a guy who is a casual gamer, and not somebody that plays games constantly. Reason being, the casual gamers that don't play all the time, don't overheat their 360's, and it's less of a chance of having the 3 Red Lights issue.
4. Try to insist on getting 2 wireless 360 controllers in the deal. (those controllers are expensive)
5. Make sure you get a HD compoent cable or HDMI cable thrown in the mix.
6. Make sure you get a bunch of 360 exclusive games included. Since you already have a PS3 and a bunch of PS3 games, you might as well focus on th exclusive 360 games that you've never played before.
Remember, if you trade your Nintendo Wii right now, you can get alot in return. Nintendo Wii's are a super hot item right now. At least in my neck of the woods they are. No retailers have them, and all the people selling them used have jacked up the price thru the stratosphere. So try to drive a hard bargain.

Do it, but check to make sure the 360 is up and running first . A 20 gig and those games you mentioned are definitely worth more than a Wii by itself(I'm not sure which games; if any; you will be including on your end of the trade). Plus, you can always pick up another Wii later on once it lowers in price and more games are released for it that you are interested in.
So check by plugging the 360 in and running it for a bit to make sure it has no rrod or other system errors first. If it doesn't than go for it.

I'm still trying to convince myself that buying my 360 was a better decision than buying a wii, and I'm slowly regretting it. I'm not huge into FPS games like others, but they're ok. I LOVE Mario games! My first reason was that my original Xbox died, and I had a bunch of games that would work on it. Secondly I wanted to watch HD movies at a cheap price, so I bought the cheap $40 add-on(already bought 2, and they no longer play hd-dvds.) My third reason was Super Street Fighter II HD remix was coming out, and Street Fighter IV, and Wii didn't have them, as well as GTA IV. Well, that's my reasoning behind my decision from over a year ago, and I have invested a lot of money into it now, so even if I get red ringed, I would still stick with the box of death.

This is the main reason I haven't cared about buying a 360 yet, along with the fact that as already mentioned, every 360 is pretty much 100% guaranteed to blow up in your face sooner or later. Also, the games you mentioned are not 360 exclusives - you can easily play them (often better) on a few-year-old PC, which is exactly what I'm doing now with Mass Effect. Come to think of it, I can't come up with many games that I'd like to play on the 360 that won't be playable on the PC (or PS3) sooner or later, the noteworthy exceptions here being some Japanese shooters like Death Smiles and a few XBLA titles.
So, my opinion: the Wii seems to have much better exclusives than the 360, so on that front it's better value, especially since you already have a PS3. But even if the 360 had the best games of all time (which is *far* from the case), just knowing about the reliability issues would (and should!!) discourage any sane person from getting one.

This whole thread is idiotic...
You've already answered your own question, by the way. About half of the 360 games you mentioned you could get are available on the PS3, and the rest all have decent substitutes on the PS3.

Yes, but it's never a permanent fix. It will crap out sooner or later, just like the PS3's YLOD.
I would not trade a Wii for a USED Xbox 360. Others have stated these following reasons:
Well, the biggest issue with getting a used Xbox 360 is that used Xbox 360's are typically like a ticking time bomb that could blow up at any minute.
This is the main reason I haven't cared about buying a 360 yet, along with the fact that as already mentioned, every 360 is pretty much 100% guaranteed to blow up in your face sooner or later.
I would not do it. Sure, the Xbox 360 has great games, but the reliability of the console is much to be desired, even with the new updated motherboard.
If it was a NEW Xbox 360, sure. But it's a huge risk to get a used console. Think of it this way: you do the change and it works great, then the next day...POOF! RROD!
Do you really want to take that risk? Trade in a good, working console for a used console that may just die out in just a few days? Sure, it might last years, but who is to say how long the console may last?
To finalize, get the Xbox 360 but ONLY if it's new. And one of the newer revisions. It's a game of Russian roulette if you get a used one.

Top 5 reasons to make the trade:
5. I like the 360 but I never play my Wii
4. You can get a rechargeable battery pack for the 360 and save fuzzy bunnys
3. You'll never have to say "pass me the wii-mote" again
2, Microsoft has never killed unicorns
1. Because you're a sheep and will do whatever I tell you to

If you want a wii keep in mind that most games are made for young kids and you have to always move your body to play any game. You will miss the fact that you can use your xbox 360 as a dvd and music player. Last don't forget a few wii games have online while most xbox 360 have online, and wii games except rock band and guitar hero don't have game add ons. Oh almost forgot wii has no game demos.
You know.... one thing I was thinking about, was the whole warranty thing. A couple of years ago, I would actually look for RROD 360's, and buy them. I would call Microsoft's 1-800 number, and transfer the warranty into my name. Then about a week later, I would call Microsoft and request the repair. They would send me the coffin, and I would send them the RROD 360. About 3 weeks to a month later, they would send me the 360 back, it would be repaired, plus, it would have a new 1 year warranty with it, guaranteeing the repair for 1 year. I didn't have to pay a single cent to get it repaired, and the only downside was just the waiting period between buying the thing, and getting the repaired one shipped to my house. The whole process would take like 45 days, but it was well worth it, because I could get a 360 for less than half it's retail MSRP. The guy that sold it, just didn't want to deal with the waiting period, and wanted to immediately buy a brand new 360 and return to playing on Xbox Live. So, it worked out for both parties.
The key was, to only buy a RROD 360 from a guy that never modded it or opened it up. Otherwise, Microsoft wouldn't honor the warranty. Also, I had to make sure the 360 was less than 3 years old (which was easy, because at the time every single 360 was less than 3 years old).
Now, the way I understand it, Microsoft no longer allows the transferring of the warranty from one owner to another. So, you can no longer call them up and tell them you bought one from your friend, but you want to transfer the warranty into your name. I'm not sure when they actually changed this policy, but I'm about 90 percent sure they did change it. Still, if you can find somebody with a RROD 360, that "never" sent in their warranty registration, and never used it on Xbox Live or signed up for a gold or silver account, then you "might" be able to buy that used 360, and sign up for the warranty, and be able to get it fixed for free. The other idea is if you can get all the guys information "address, phone number, Xbox Live name, etc, etc, just pretend you're him and that you've changed addresses or something, and get it fixed from Microsoft for free.

Good advise, but it would be difficult to send it to microsoft to fix it... And difficult to buy a xbox 360 PAL cheap... Do you thing is worth to buy a xbox without hdmi?
Do you thing is worth to buy a xbox without hdmi?
Absoluely not. Microsoft has been making 360's with HDMI for a long time now. If you get a 360 without HDMI, then that is a really old 360 (in terms of when it was manufactured). Ideally, you want one that is less than 1 year old, or at least less than 2 years old. You don't want one manufactured in 2005, 2006 or 2007.

I think if you have a PS3 and enjoy it, getting a 360 would probably be a better choice than staying with the Wii as the 360 has a lot of similar games that the PS3 has. Getting a used 360 is a really big gamble though. I would always recommend getting a new one, but if you're in a position where getting a used one is more realistic, just make sure it's a fairly recent model and it hasn't had the shit played out of it.

I drag this image out of mothballs for every goofball who posts a "Convince me to buy..." or "Talk me into buying..." post. I'm still befuddled as to how someone cannot make up his/her own mind as to the game system they prefer to the point of needing "convincing."

Don't you know how to read? A 360 system without the HDMI has a much higher chance at screwing up than newer systems. The fix is also only temporary and is guaranteed to go out again.

Well, since you mentioned that, and just in case...
Si tienes esos aspectos bajo consideracion, metele mano. De lo contrario, te recomiendo una consola nueva o una mas reciente.
Y no, no puse acentos ni ~ a las N porque estoy usando Ubuntu Linux y no se como usar esos caracteres especiales.
