To celebrate/promote C&C4, EA has made some of the older C&C games free to download. These include Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun + Firestorm, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn, and Command & Conquer: Red Alert.

Downloads available here:

Sweet, thanks! Downloading them all as we speak, love C&C. Westwood studios used to be right down the street from where I live.

Tiberium Sun was a good game, however Red Alert 2 I think was THE best one of all in the whole series.

Sweet! I know they used to have the original Command and Conquer for free on there. Not sure where it got purged to, but it is still available on several C&C fansites.

Haven't played Tiberian Sun in a long time. Can't wait to download this!

I've never seen it free on there. Red Alert has been free for quite a while though.

I'd like to get a XP compatible version of the original Command & Conquer. I can't get my disk to work, and I don't have a DVD drive so the PC store compilation is useless.

Edit - Sure enough, it was. Wish I had downloaded it.

Never mind, it seems that Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn IS the original.

Anyone else experience crashing in C&C: Tiberian Sun yet? The version they have on there is from The First Decade, so I'm going to try downloading the unofficial patch to fix it... hopefully.

Funny. Today after seeing multiple C&C discs at thrift stores I hypothesized that C&C must be the best value in gaming. I'm pretty sure every thrift I frequent always has one version or another for a couple bucks at most. They have many hours of play and are great fun.

Just a random thought I had, and now a bunch are available for free!

You too Cornelius? I saw C&C Red Alert Counterstrike and C&C Tiberian Sun Platinum at the Goodwill last week. I wonder if a lot of people are ditching their copies since its freeware, or this is just coincidence?

I ALWAYS see tons of c&c games at thrifts, and have for a long time. It sold really, really well, and I guess it is just the right timing over the past couple years for people to be ditching their computer software from that era. It is more uncommon for there NOT to be a copy of this game at any given thrift I go to!

Well, the thrifts around me very rarely have any games, so it's actually uncommon for me to find anything. I've never seen a copy of The Sims over here, in fact.

Well I downloaded, and couldn't get the big download to work properly. (Tiberian Sun 1.2GB I believe) - always get an error message when trying to start the game.

For anything old you download, you need to look at the installation instructions, right there on the page that Cantaloup linked to.
