Bosconian update?

Got hooked on Bosconian recently (see sig below :)), wondering if they ever updated it/gave it the Galaga '88/'90 treatment?

Barring that, are there any similar type games besides Sinistar (2D infinite scrolling space shooter) games I may have missed?

Ever played Bosconian Star Destroyer on the Sharp X68000? It's got some nice music and touched up graphics. I haven't spent too much time in it but it's as close to an update Galaga 88 style as you'll get.
