I thought it was pretty good back in the day. But then again, I only rented it...

Love it. LOVE IT. It was the only reason my SNES was plugged in the past few years (before I unplugged it again). I highly recommend it, 9 out of 10.

Good story, cool play control, cool items, lots of ways to upgrade, hidden rooms and items.

It was definitely one of my personal top 10 for the Super NES.

My ONE complaint... it was kinda short. But you can "feel" the SquareSoft influences in the game, perfectly fused with Nintendo's solid gameplay and fun characters. A match made in heaven.

Is This Game Any Good?

Are you kidding? This game is one of the best RPGs ever. I even heard
recently that Nintendo is planning to release it for the GBA. There is so
much hidden stuff, even if you played the game you haven't truely played
the game. What do I mean about this...The hidden casino for one.
Also in an old issue of Nintendo Power I have, they hint about
2 hidden bosses. If that isn't enough I don't know what else you could
want.

I loved Super Mario RPG. I'm now about 1/2 way through Paper Mario for the N64, and it's even better. I'd highly recommend both of them.

I played and finished Super Mario RPG.. and I remember being very "underwhelmed" by the whole thing. But maybe because I was going through that phase where I was starting to get disenchanted with RPG's as a whole.. -_-

@Unknown Gamer: Actually, the new GBA RPG featuring Mario is an original creation, entitled Mario & Luigi.

The hidden boss is Culex, a Final-Fantasy style baddie with some of the coolest music ever. (Did you know Culex is apparently the name of a genus of mosquito responsible for spreading West Nile virus?)

I never did beat Culex myself...

Anyhow, I'll agree with everyone else here on Mario RPG- great title, very cool music as well- the forest where you fight that arrow guy is still one my favs.

I'm not a fan on RPG's, but I love this game.

It's the only RPG I ever finished, including defeating Culex.

I sold it after I finished it though, I think I'll have to get it again someday.-

You should have told me you wanted one...A used store had one lst week for $20 and I almost bought it cause thats a good price. Instead I bought Uncharted Waters: New Horizons because I already have Mario RPG.

Also Paper Mario is better? than Mario RPG? I have one but haven't played it yet.

Thanks but I just picked it up complete for around $20. I was just wondering if I should spend the time to play it.

Lucky dog, I'm still constantly on the lookout for this game complete for a decent price. I had quite the day today, but finding Super Mario RPG complete for $20 would make my year.

I never beat it, I got up to the power rangers ripoffs boss and they handed my ass to me. I handn't saved in hours and the game was due back the next day so I just said fuckit and never played it again, but definitely one of the best on the system. Very high on my SNES priority list.

Paper Mario is a blast -- one of the five best N64 games. It looks and plays like Super Mario RPG, and the charcters being these paper thin forms is SO cute! ;)
