OK, I have a confession to make. I'm unemployed. This means I don't care what day of the week it is. So I totally had no idea it was Monday, until about an hour and a half ago, when I found out I had to record my weekly sports podcast (findable at scooterbandjj.podbean.com we are Ohio focused, and we had some skype issues this week, but please give us a shot...)
So I apologize for not getting this one out there earlier.
This week, we're trying out Aliens vs. Predator.

It looks like a beat 'em up with some great graphics. I have to admit, I have never played the game before.
If you need the ROM, just check out our "drop" at drop.io/dpmameclub and download the avsp folder. You can also find the last couple week's worth of games there, should you need them

Now this is what I'm talking about! This is one of the best beat-em-ups...ever!! It's a shame that it never saw a proper home release :( but, thank God for MAME!!

Well, one more entry in a very long line of side scrolling beat 'em ups.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but what AVP does, it does very well. The graphics are beautiful and the weapons and power ups are pretty kick @ss. It is definitely a fun game and being able to play as 2 different predators is really cool. I think this game would be a lot of fun to play with 2 players.

I fired up my CPS2 pcb of this and played the game all the way through on one of the higher difficulty settings, pretty fun beat em up and one of my favorites in the genre. It ranks up there with the Konami Xmen game and some great other licensed games we'll likely never see official ports for due to copyright issues.
I found the Predator Warrior and Lynn to be the most effective characters in the game.

I think as I get older, I get worse at these games. I do have to say that the opening Alien rush was one of the more fun beginnings to a beat 'em up I have ever played. I still haven't made it by the first boss yet. Yeah, I may just be having one of those days.

Oh hell yeah! I used to LOVE this game when I was a kid. I played it all the time in the arcade. One thing that you don't notice until you put a decent amount of time into it is that the characters actually have a fairly large number of moves, especially Jin Kurosawa... She can pull off some crazy combos once you figure out what she can do. Even the two predators have enough differences to make each one a separate experience.

Wow, 1994. I played the heck out of this in 1995-1996 or so. I miss arcades and 2-D side-scrolling beat-em-ups.

Playing catch up... I just downloaded and played through this. By far my favorite character was Lt. Kurosawa. At first she seemed kind of weak, but after figuring out that she had more ammo and that poowerful spin attack move, I played as her most of the game. Didn't like the big dude with the gun arm, he was too slow to be effective.
One thing I've noticed different about this game vs. others is the sheer amount of on-screen enemies. It was pretty satisfying doing a spin attack through 8 or so enemies and seeing them scatter around the floor.
I missed this one in the arcades so this was my first time playing it. I myself am a little more partial to the X-Men and Avengers Beat-em-ups, but this one wasn't too bad. It also wasn't an overtly difficult game... the crazy predator was probably the toughest boss for me.
