I'm wondering what SNES games were composed entirely or partly by David Wise, the composer of the Donkey Kong Country series. The SNES has probably the best sound chip I've heard and DKC2 is my favorite game soundtrack ever (and it is also my favorite video game of all time.)

It would also be appreciated if you could direct to games with soundtracks that sound similar to those the Donkey Kong Country series.

I love his work too. Wikipedia has a lot to say about the guy, including his credits.

Looks like he did mostly Donkey Kong related games from the 90's and on. Shame he doesn't do more.

I've already looked at his wikipedia page *facepaws*

I'm assuming he has done more that is not credited on Wiki. That tends to happen a lot, like "selected works" and what not.

Well, as the article states, he was the ONLY composer at Rare up until 1994, so EVERY Rare game was composed entirely by him up to that point (well, Rare existed for a couple years before he was hired, but I'm guessing those very early games didn't have that much in the way of music.) You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you only focused on his SNES work because he's got a wealth of great music outside of that.

He was involved in all three DKC games, and if I'm remembering everything correctly, he did most of DKC, all of DKC2, and a very small portion of DKC3. Most people don't care for the DKC3 soundtrack much, though, so the GBA version of the game got an all new soundtrack which I believe was also 100% Wise.

I don't know about the pre-1994 list, but I'm pretty sure that post-1994 list is complete on Wikipedia. He really didn't compose all that much past the 16-bit generation. I don't know if it was his decision or Rare's, but the focus shifted to Grant Kirkhope (much to my dismay, as many of his soundtracks feel more like goofy, comedy tunes with funny noises rather than something you'd actually want to listen to on its own, but I digress).

I remember getting an email from a sound composer from Rare who said he did the music from the unreleased SNES version of Killer Instinct 2, though I don't know if it is the same guy.

Well that's quite unfortunate. I will try to track down a copy of DKC3 on the GBA though, and I already have most of the Rare NES releases...

His music in Time Lord is freaking insane. Listen to this:

This is almost reason enough to pick up the GBA version, I may have to find myself a copy. I love the origional DKC3 soundtrack though.
