Sorry if I am in the wrong area with this, but...

I have a Nintendo Kiosk laser disc with previews of upcoming games.
It contains a preview of the unreleased Star Fox 2.
From what i've been able to piece together from months of searching is that it was supposed to have been recalled and all copies destroyed.
Nintendo has told me that it doesn't exist.

does anyone know ANYTHING at all about this?
is there somewhere I can find out about it?
what is it worth? (not that I am looking to sell it, I'd just like to know)

That is correct. A laser disc preview. NOT the game.

I wouldn't think that this would be worth an insane amount, but it should be able to fetch a decent amount. I'd say around $400-500, but I could be wrong. The fact that it has Starfox 2 on it is definitely what would make it valuable to many people, but I'm not sure if being a Laserdisc would make its value higher or lower.

Back in the SNES days at Toys R Us, they had a non-playable demo kiosk that had a touch keypad with pictures of different upcoming games on it. There was the Laserdisc along with a SNES cart that said Nintendo Power Previews.

A little tangent first...Who at Nintendo told you Star Fox 2 "doesn't exist," nick5K? It does and it doesn't. If you talked to somebody who was around at the time, even then their memory can be bad. If you talked to some minimum-wage know-nothing on the phone, I'd pay about as much attention to that as nothing. In any case, I haven't ever heard (though I didn't look into it carefully) that it was ever produced, and that the recent ROM release came from a beta (either an actual in-house beta, or something that made it to a magazine).

Everything LaserDisc and obscure that ties in to a good franchise can rake in a little cash. Better than VHS for quality and longevity (theoretically; I've got a 1987 strat tape that plays essentially like new).

I wouldn't throw some arbitrary number on this thing though. There are enough problems with LaserDiscs that the only people interested in them either have a considerable hardware investment, or just want to put them in their shelf collection and forget about them.

Being StarFox 2, though, it's probably worth a bit to somebody.

I remember those kiosks at TRU. Anyone know if any clips/whole laserdisc footage has been uploaded to Youtube or any other video site?

I have one of these Laserdiscs and I did rip the video. However, it's 28 minutes long and I'm too lazy to split it up so I can put it on youtube. I'll reply if I ever get around to splitting it and uploading it.

That'd be great. :)

From my experience LDs go up in value quickly when it's a rare video. I've tried to get some Japanese imports of game walk-throughs for side-scrolling shooters and whatnot to see their prices go into $50+. I expected little to no competition in bidding for them, but nope. Can't say I can give a good estimate but easily expect something decent for it.

I'd be interested in seeing the StarFox 2 stuff. Don't have any money for it, nor a Laserdisc player, though.

[QUOTE=Ed Oscuro;1689413]A little tangent first...Who at Nintendo told you Star Fox 2 "doesn't exist," nick5K? It does and it doesn't.

Sorry if I was unclear.
Nintendo did NOT tell me the game didn't exist. They told me this laserdisc with a PREVIEW of star fox 2 didn't exist.

apologies if I caused some confusion there.

I got the player at a pawn shop. The disc was left in it. I thought it was a nice find.
