I got my first ps3 this week. It's an original 60 GB with full BC.
I like it, but the web browser is terrible. I'd like to be able to watch blip.tv vids (spoonyone and nostalgia critic) on the couch with my wife, but the ps3 can't do these reliably.
Will installing Linux help this? I assume I can use firefox on it, right?

http://www.psubuntu.com has everything you need for Ubuntu on your PS3 (though you can also use it a little bit for others such as Yellow Dog). I'm using Xubuntu myself.
Anyway, there's no official version of Flash for PowerPC Linux. Just Intel. You have to do some tinkering with add-ons and such with FireFox. There's Gnome, Greasemonkey, VLC, and MPlayer. You may have to do a combination of all of them to get the results you want.
With the little but I've done, I've haven't been able to get flash working properly in Firefox on Xubuntu. With Youtube, I can get the audio to play, but not the video.

thanks - not the answer that I was hoping for, but I appreciate the info.
I'll probably not bother installing it then. It's too bad the ps3 browser has to suck :(
