$2? Damn...

To think: All I found this weekend was $12 in a pile of leaves outside PnT on Saturday just before I was called into work for 8 hours and a closed, out-of-business PnT in Clermont today on a trip out of town :(

I was a little confused by that, as well. The price on the game was $23 or something like that. Must've been a mistake. I didn't realize anything was odd until I left the store.

The case the game's in isn't a dual-disc case, as I assume the game was originally in, so one of the discs is tucked in the warranty sheet until I can find a good Gamecube CD case (The GC cases are cool, but they're taking up too much space in my dorm...)

Are people really that stupid for ps3 displays?
Seriously, just hold down the power when it starts until it beeps...that resets it to factory defaults.

Congrats on a great CL find.

I wonder if they tried going to Radioshack to see if they stock "video input thingies." LOL

I didn't even know it was released on VHS! That gives me something extra to look out for. Been trying to get into the series, but the method that shall not be named here only produces low-quality videos.

Beta, I've got a factory sealed copy of the first six episodes of Monster Rancher on DVD. I sent you a PM.

A few recent finds - all from Half Price Books:

GT Force Wheel (PS2) - $4.98 - This thing is sweet for GT4 and NFS: Hot Pursuit 2

Official Nintendo Player's Guide - $2.00 - Very cool official guide offering detailed walkthroughs of a bunch of classic NES games. 2 bucks seemed like a good deal so I picked it up, although the NES is not a system I really collect for.

XI [Sai] (Jap PS1) - $2.00 - I believe this is the Japanese version of Devil Dice, although it doesn't appear to command the same premium that DD does on ebay. Still, I have a modded PS1 so I can play this game without having to pay for a US Devil Dice.

Jet De Go! (Jap PS1) - $2.00 - I loved Densha De Go! a while back, so I'm looking forward to giving this one a try. I was trying to search for a video of the game on Youtube and surprisingly came up empty...

Rockman Battle and Chase (Jap PS1) - $6.98 - Don't know much about this, but it seemed like a good deal for a Rockman game. Not sure if I'll keep this one or not.

I'm not sure why my HPB keeps getting these waves of Import PS1 games (who would go to the effort of obtaining them but then take 50 cents apiece at HPB?), but I'm not complaining. I'm slowly building a nice collection to go with my MIB SCPH-1000 that I picked up at a garage sale a while back for a buck.

Nice on that Battle & Chase. Those Rockman spinoffs without US releases are worth a bit, from $25-70. Current eBay listings are asking $30-40 for that one, but I'm not seeing any completed listings...

Sadly, no. I didn't realize it contained a sticker sheet, but looking at it now I can see what appears to be the remains of it.

It does contain a reference to Stadium Events...am I rich?

Got a few things today. First I went to Babbages, it's actually still called that, and picked up cases to Luigi's Mansion and Ratchet and Clank Size Matters to replace my GS stock cases. The funny thing is the Ratchet and Clank case is from my friend. Though my copy is a Greatest Hits and his isn't...

Anyway, I also went to Play 'N Trade to see what they had. Came out okay:
Sneak King (CIB) - $0.99 (I know)
Indiana Jones: Greatest Adventures (loose) - $4.99
U.N. Squadron (loose) - $4.99

They had an area of retro games which were all being sold for $4.99. Those were the only two that really seemed worth it to me.

Not that I'm a big fan, but MW2 (for essentially $2.50) was the find of the weekend for me, just because it was such an insanely good price. Steel Battallion ranks a close second, since I have owned the controller/pedals for over a year but never found the game at a price I wanted to pay. Silent Hill would've been the winner of the weekend, but of course it's missing the manual! (Why are the best games always in the most incomplete condition?!)

While there weren't any super-amazing-mind-blowing scores this time around (save for MW2, of course), I was also excited to pick up the Tomba! demo (just cool to have), the Wavebird receiver (I only need two more now to complete a bunch of loose WBs I bought some time ago), and the asciiPad, which now completes a matching pair. And, filling in several gaps in the old collection is always pleasant!

Lots of fun finds for me this week.
http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/narnia.jpg
we went out thrifting to look for a belt for my squall costume for comiccon this year, we were gettting iritated that we weren't really sure how thick the belts needed to be at one particular store...so I went over to the magazine section just to look around and I found a stack of old square strategy guides including the ff8 one! as well as the ff9 one i've been looking for passively for years (CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR MORE!) using the pictures in the book we found the correct belts, so yay for that. found alot of great stuff at that thrift including an ascii pad (hands down the best pad for the snes) a bunch of vintage star wars and thunder cats stuff cheap, muscles for nes (since i only have a sealed copy right now that was a nice find for me even if the game sucks) kings quest 7 has nothing in the box, so it was free. battle chess has the disks and warentee card but no manual unfortuatnly. couple modern transformers as well, all on the cheap. pokemon was from target with the two freebie toys. Megazord was 5$ and the star wars books were on the same shelf as the ff guides. I think the dreamcast was the biggest piece of shit ever released (possibly only beaten by the 32x) but I felt bad for the one lonely dreamcast magazine so I gave it a good home. as well

overall a good find, but my second was better:
http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/lightspan.jpg

yup 35 light span games for 1$ each, not sure really how desirable they are ,but I know they don't come up very often and the price was right. amoung the pile is a "guide to lightspan" disk that i havn't seen before. i'm thinking of possibly ripping the disks and making them available online (at least SOMEONE would like to play em right?)

overall a good day for me :-)

Picked up a really fucked up, beat up copy of Mortal Kombat Armageddon for Xbox for $5.

Manual is in great shape. Box is beat up, though placing the cover artwork in another box helps improve the "quality".

But the disc was fucking horrible. The label side is great, but the date side was pure trash. It would not work at all on my Xbox console.

So after using my trusty professional buffing machine, the disc plays perfectly AND it looks minty. :D

So overall, not bad for $5.

Do the discs have the info cards on the other side of those sleeves? Most of them (meaning all of the LS stuff, not necessarily your discs as I can't see what they all are) unfortunately are only worth 3-5 apiece. I do have one of those 'Family Connection: Guide to Lightspan' discs, but i'm not sure if mine looks the same. I'll pull it out and check. I may be interested in some of those if they are complete as I know i don't have all the variants of them (sku on disc vs no sku) if you were looking to move them.

What is so good about the ascii SNES pad?

While the asciiPad isn't significantly different from Nintendo's pad (aside from the obvious), there are a few changes that I feel are improvements over the original:
The d-pad and face buttons (A, B, X, Y) are spaced farther apart from one another (just shy of a half-inch more), which results in a slightly wider grip; I find this to be a little more comfortable.
The shoulder buttons slope upward toward the center of the controller which changes your reach ever so slightly, and this I also find to be a little friendlier on my hands. The buttons are also longer and flatter, which feels more natural to me: less claw-hand action. Using this grip, you can depress the top/inside edges of the buttons with ease and their "click" seems a bit more pronounced -- not as "gummy" as on the original pad.
The d-pad is a touch looser than the original, which makes rolling from one direction to another a little smoother.
The face buttons are all convex, just like those on a Super Famicom controller, which some people prefer. I could go either way, but if you're one of those people who pushes buttons extra hard during tense or frustrating moments (something I'm occasionally guilty of), these will definitely cause less irritation/soreness. Sliding between X and Y is as smooth as A and B, as well.
Lastly, you've got the then-ubiquitous turbo and slow motion functions. Their usefulness depends entirely on what game you're playing and whether or not you put any stock in these types of controllers. Having individual switches for each button is nice. Great for some shooters, but the speed doesn't always sync well with certain titles. They never get in the way and if nothing else, I think they cool, along with the killer red/yellow/green/blue color scheme -- something I always wished the US SNES would've left intact.Above all else, the asciiPad feels in every way like an official controller. It doesn't have that awful third-party look or feel, and if you like the control and feel you get from a standard SNES pad, you'll like the asciiPad. It's one of the best licensed controllers ever.

Criterion DVDs were $2 each, Blues Brothers 2000 OST was $1, Digital Image Suite 9 was $2.

Passed on:
* Bloody Roar II (scuffed disc, CIB, $5)
* Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon (hybrid, gold CD / SACD) - The seller wanted $1 but as soon as he realized it was Pink Floyd he raised the price to $5. Why the fuck do these sellers keep doing this as soon as they realize it's Pink Floyd?! AGH.
* The Terminator two disc Special Edition DVD (Europe / PAL format) - I almost bought it but I inspected the DVDs and they looked really, REALLY weird. Like they had spiderweb between the printed side and the data side. I figured they were ruined so I left it behind.

Today's finds:

Publisher 2003 was $2, Nascar 2002 was $5 (doesn't sell for as much as 2003, doh), Splatterhouse was $2, Last Express was $2 (discs only), and that Sonia Dada CD was $1.50 (down from $2). Splatterhouse's manual is worn but I thinik I can still sell it, but it'll also be available for trade.

Well, just got back from a 2-week vacation to the deep South.
While I was there, I did flea-marketing that would put Kitsune to shame!
Pretty much everything in the heap was $5 or under.
A few of my favorite things...
360 Flight Stick for $20 (wanted one for PC, so this'll do! Didn't know there was one for 360)
In the Hunt Saturn $10. Loved it for PS1!
Lynx model 1 with some flight sim game I forget $9
Megaman Music CD stamped "for promo use only". Apparently it's from a TV series $2
Asterix 360 ..actually bought off of Amazon.com, they just didn't ship to Canada, so I mailed it to myself on vacation! $10
Sealed copies of Desert Strike for Genesis $1.50 for 3
Giant Ninja Turtle Troll doll. $1 ! Whee! :D
Also, got an Atari 2600 setup with about 20 games (nothing rare), joysticks, paddles, game case, etc. $15 for all. A nice find, as I gifted my old system to my Secret Santa this year.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b48/SamuraiSmurfette/florida057.jpg

I also stopped at an old friend's house in Georgia on the way there and we talked alot about gaming and how I've gotten into collecting. On my way back, I also visited her, and she was telling me that they were moving into a new place and had a bunch of gaming stuff they were going to donate rather than move, and asked me if I wanted it. I humbly accepted.

All for free.

I keep everything tallied, organized and honest. We spent about $700 in goods (not counting food...I brought back tons of cherry coke, grits, and cookie crisp) We could have spent $1250 for how long we stayed. We also bought "normal" things like clothes, shoes, and other non-gaming stuff.
Now, if I had bought all that in just a day trip, then yeah, I wouldn't have gotten away with it.

Is that a complete copy of Fate of Atlantis CD-ROM version? If so, very nice find with that.

I remember Cookie Crisp, though I never got to eat it. I once bought a box while in the states, but couldn't fit it in the luggage so it was just given to relatives before we left. The closest I've got to that was opening a box of McDonalds chocolate chip cookies and putting it in a cereal bowl full of milk. Still was ok, though those cookies were discontinued too.

I found 2 actually! I found a disk-in sleeve version at a flea for 0.75$, then later at a thrift, snagged a perfect complete copy for $1.99.

Edit: Turns out the Complete copy is a Mac version. Kind of a bummer :( Means I won't be keeping it

I am highly amused you bring back the same stuff I do. Cookie Crisp and cherry coke!

I stopped by one of my favored thrifts while I was running some lunch errands.

Sega Genesis Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist, in clamshell with manual, for $4.

Well worth the stop.

My dad was a LUCKY dog today...

We were at the Goodwill lot sale, digging in one of those giant box things that they have. There was this giant styrofoam box looking thing with some grey plastic things in it at the bottom. I didn't realize it, but it was a minty ROB the Robot with all his accessories and stuff >_< (sans the outer box). My dad ended up getting it so no biggie. It'll be sold and the money will go to our family. I'm just kicking myself for not realizing what it was.

That being said, I got 2 floppy disk games, Commander Keen Episode 1 (says "Radio Shack" on it's label in big letters, so I'm guessing it's branded somehow) and another disk with "HOGO'S HOUSE OF HORRORS" on a homemade label on it. Of course, that's Hugo's House of Horrors. They also had Commander Keen Episode 4, but the floppy was all messed up.

After that, we headed to Salvation Army. I went to the area where they keep the CDs and videos and came face-to-face with a VHS copy of The Beatles' "Let It Be". OOP VHS that didn't get a DVD release! Score!

First Goodwill score in a while that required a shopping cart - found today:

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/4119/comix.jpg

20 big plastic bags filled with 80's comics, $1.99 per bag. Pretty standard superhero stuff, but lots with video game ads on the back...not to mention the highly sought after Mr T & the T-Force #1! ;)

22 loose N64 games, $1.99 each

3 generations of Nintendo consoles, $6.99 to $9.99.

Most will be sold at the Midwest Gaming Classic at the end of the month.

I haven't seen that many games at a Goodwill in the past year total...and I tend to go every weekend.

I still wonder who thinks to themselves "hey look there's the label, it tells people what this is... I'll place this price sticker right over this!"

Nascar 2002 was $5 (doesn't sell for as much as 2003, doh)
I made the same mistake recently also. Seems like the older ones had some value up until a year or so ago, but now it has to be 2003-whenever papyrus quit.

You mean 2003 - the year EA stole the license from Sierra and started pushing out crap games. After Papyrus was shut down, they went and did their own racing game online - IRacing.com (http://www.iracing.com) - and were successful at it. I'm happy they've managed to survive and are basically -the- sim these days. :) Too bad it's subscription based. :P

Is it safe to assume neither is sold in Canada? :?

Nothing today, stopped into my old GS to grab Pokemon Soul Silver for my cousin but didn't see anything jump out at me. I got stiffed on the figurine, the counter jockey said they were shorted but I know half the crew that works there and I know they just gave them out to whoever, whether the customer pre-ordered or not.

Well, NR2003 is just an updated version of NR2002, which is just an updated version of NR4. They all three use the same engine, and all have the same modding potential that NR2003 has. I see no reason to buy NR2003 since I have copies of NR4 and NR2002. I bought them when they came out. The only reason that NR2003 is so sought after is it's scarcity. They quit making them about halfway into 2003, because EA got exclusive rights to make NASCAR games, even though the EA games are horrible when compared to their Sierra counterparts.

Picked up a few games today:
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb141/jcalder8/IMG_0005.jpg
These were each 1.50 except the Canon manual which also came with the camera which was 20.

The copy of Suikoden is really just the disk since it's not the correct case and it's missing the manual. 1 of the FFVII's is a former rental and has stickers on each disk and it's missing the manual. The other one is in near mint condition and marks my 750th game.

I look forward to your comments both on here and on cgcc Atarileaf

After problems with my internet going down over the past weekend (Shortly after I posed about finding a 32X), I'm finally back. I wound up going back to Game-X-Change a few hours after I picked up that 32X, and got a few more things with the credit I had leftover from last time.

Also, the local Movie Gallery was having it's liquidation sale, which I chose to take advantage of. But first, here's what I found over the past week:

From Game-X-Change:
- Mega Man Anneversary Collection (Xbox. Complete in very good condition): $10
- Halo (Xbox. Non-PH release, complete in very good condition): $13
- Hey You, Pikachu! (N64. Loose w\o VRU): $5
- Instruction book for Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins (Near mint): Free (Was in the case for the Mega Man collection, behind that game's instructions)

Since I had some credit leftover from last time, I decided to pick up some of the things I passed on last time; also finally getting Hey You Pikachu so I can finally test those N64 VRUs I've had in storage. Also, the SML2 instruction book was a pleasent surprise.

From Movie Gallery:
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii. In a generic case, disc in mint condition): $16
- LittleBigPlanet (PlayStation 3. In a generic case, disc in mint condition): $16
- Pokémon Ranger & The Temple of the Sea (DVD. In good condition; needs some buffing): $6
- Stargate SG-1: Childen of the Gods - The Final Cut (DVD. In mint condition): $10

Even though I don't have a PS3 or a Wii, I decided to scoop both games up for an alterior motif...also, I got myself some DVDs; I had been wanting that preticular Pokémon movie, and I couldn't pass up SG-1 (I heard this version of the pilot episode was much better than the original cut, which is in the Season 1 box set I have).

From Gamestop (No, I'm not mentioning Pokémon SoulSilver again):
- Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360. New): $20

The reason I picked up LBP and SSBB in the first place was because they qualified for Gamestop's trade-in offer (Trade 2 select games and ger FF13 for $20). I made a nice turn-around with this offer; effectively paying $55 after tax for a game that still costs $60 before tax.
