Morrowind is the ONLY RPG I have played on the PC in the last 5 years. Not since Planescape: Torment.
Just when I think I break my addiction, a expansion comes along. :D

I've played it quite a bit on the Xbox, does that count?
I really like the open-ended style of play, thought it can often lead to hours of "doing nothing, really"...
Just like my real life! :)

Same as DP - I've beaten the Xbox version, and eagerly anticipate the Game of the Year edition.
I would've gotten it on PC instead if I had my new PC back when it released.

I've got it for PC, but I can't bring myself to finish it. I had to cheat to even get to where I am now... I'm right at the end. All I have to go do is pass Ghostfence and kill Dagoth Ur, but I know it'll be the same as any other encounter in the game.
Overall I found the game to be highly repetative. I'm the head of House Redoran and the Guildmaster of the Fighters Guild, so when I finally started in on the main storyline I guess I just got bored of "Go here, kill him, go there, bring me this."
Definitely a fine game with enormous potential, but I just felt let down in the end. I'm sure the expansions remedy a lot of my gripes, but I just can't see myself picking the game up again.
It took me a few weeks, but eventually I noticed the overwhelming genericness of everything and that ruined the fun for me. Why talk to a townsperson if you've seen all their lines before? I don't think Morrowind is a terribly great game compared to its predecessor, Daggerfall (which itself was extremely random, but still managed to pull it all together better).

I agree with that. While I liked the crazy architecture and silly render effects in the wastelands, the game is very generic indeed. The books you find are a very nice touch, but unfortunately they only serve to whet your appetite for something that you'll never get.
I have yet to see any of the expansion packs; I will say that the expansion pack disc planned for the XBOX has a formidable challenge before it as the original ended up being extremely unstable after gaining a few dozen levels (and the new disc will be added on to all that came before).
The music...something needs to be done about the music...did I say that before? A lot of it is very nicely done, but it's repeated over and over and over again. Infinitely, and we're talking about maybe a dozen tracks in all. x_x

I really think this game is one of the best. The fact that the world is soo big, so detailed(ever found the drowned fisherdude in the river?) it just keeps me playing. And no, no cheat used. Allmost finished tribunal, just in time to install bloodmoon! the latest expansion.

This is an excellent RPG (PC version here) but I agree it is a bit repetitive. I have all the Bethesda Elder Scrolls series: Arena, Daggerfall for the PC and all still are very addictive. I think Daggerfall was the best but this of course has the best graphics of the 3. I only wish I had enough time to finish Morrowind. Too many games not enough time. 8-)
