The 40K stadium events is crazy /insane and bad for nes fans in general.
But thats not the point, wich games do you think are actually worth 40k.
Ok not 40k but what game do you think is worth big bucks and playable(not factory sealed).

The only thing i can think off are games that didn't make it

resident evil 1.5
simcity (nes)

or neo geo aes K encounter
In other words where would you drop down a couple of K for and think its really worth it.

OK, for me probably these games.

Atari 2600
Pitfall II
Megamania
Galaxian
Space Invaders
Combat.

Yes, they are not worth 40K or even $40 for that matter, but when I hold the box in my hand, or read the instruction manual, or even play the game I get the feeling that I am holding a $40,000 item. There is so much history there, and then you factor in the art value, and the play value, and it feels to be worth more than what it goes for. Obviously none of these games will ever be worth that but I still get more satisfaction from a game like this.

No game is worth any price tag if it will not be enjoyed and cherished.

Video games are meant for enjoyment.

Yeah but on that note it's probably better that the games worth millions of dollars going into the next century will be crap like Stadium Events and Myriad 6-in-1. Let the completionist sealed collectors have their rarities, they're no different from art, coin, stamp and comic collectors!

I don't care how rare a game, none of them should be worth 40 grand.

40 grand is a car, a pretty good one too.

#Vbender came up with a great list of games worth 40K+, they are as follows:

That is all.

Only the European Kizuna Encounter is worth that much methinks.

Has anyone actually confirmed that this thing really sold and the seller was paid and the buyer received the item? I suspect almost none of these recent auctions has ended well for the seller.

How do you know anybody 100 years from now will give two shits about Stadium Events?

Working copies of Mario may be rare then.

After all, it's the first Batman / Superman comics that fetched $1M+ recently, not some obscure stuff.

This whole $40K NES GAEM debacle brings out the best in mankind!

The 20 non-bootleg copies Tetris for the Japanese Mega Drive is ultra valuable.

Maybe this Gameboy made of solid gold and diamonds will be worth that much eventually.

I take back my previous comment.

A solid gold SMB/DH might be worth 40k monies.

Holy crap that Game Boy is hideous. Doesn't look especially ergonomic either, depending on how they achieved that texture.

Put it in the ceiling of your local retro diner and nobody will notice (well, except for it being gold and not silver).

I remember when we were satisfied with games worth 2k monies.

Aye, verily.

"Hey, mr obscure. Whatcha playin'?"

You see a wild Trollmitu, munching on some tall grass...
You hit it with it's elemental weakness...
*bitch slap*
It's super effective!

Now make this cupcake disappear... Wait a second, I have to remove my towel first. :D

The real question here is, "How much Special K is a sealed Stadium Events actually worth?"

I see you and raise a mountain of 41 thousand individual loose copies of SMB/DH, glued together. Those are worth a buck each.

Icarus Moonsight

Individually, yes. You are forgetting the requisite bulk discount. Gonna need about 10k moar! By that time, they will have collectivized and fused, gained sentience and will begin to destroy downtown Tokyo. A fair warning to the would-be SMB/DH market corner'ers. Want all that blood and ruination on your hands?

My opinion:

At this time no game (except the Stadium Events) is worth 40k.
But I think that in future more game will go that high.
Speaking not of next week but maybe in 10+ years.

The first Superman comic costs 10 Cent back in the days...I bet in the 40s/50s there were also some people saying: Hey dude...what are you collecting, do you think this 10 Penny shit would be worth much in some days??
IMO: Videogames are the comics from the 80s/90s/00s.....we will see what happen with a sealed or used and working Super Mario World in the year 2050 :)

I am sure that no videogame will be worth a million....but hey: 50k are far far away from a million and also big money.

A new challenger appears my *ss ,this is not a challenge they got owned.
All hail to the new king.:hail:

:above me: Man has anyone ever noticed that videogame collectors have no humor what so ever.

And no this is not a troll thread.I mean if somebody really pops down 40 k for a sealed game that they can not play but only look at.
I was really curious for which other games people would pop down 40k.

I see you and raise a mountain of 41 thousand individual loose copies of SMB/DH, glued together. Those are worth a buck each.

I dare you to collect that many, and pay for the storage facility to hold them all.

Then you'll have to concoct a diabolical plan to nuke the US SMB/DH supply, making them radioactive and worthless, while increasing the value of you own supply.

Just don't blow any monies on a scale model of your proposed plan.

You have a lot of work ahead of you, because more heavyweight trolls like rugalsizzler, and lesser ones like chaz and others have trolled/spammed up the boards before you.

"He's hurt me, doc!" Don't give up, Mac! Fight!"

Anyway, I don't think any game is worth $40k either, regardless of how rare it is. Those SE auctions have reached new levels of ridiculousness previously held by those two Neo-Geo games.

"I can't win, doc!" ''Yes you can,mac!''

rugalsizzler:''You think the speed of your fingers can match the strenght of my fists''

Final round 3 TKO

''Great fighting!!
you where tough, mac!
I've never seen such finger speed before.'' (and verbal diarrhea)

19-0 19ko

Ill take my comment back that was some of the best retro gaming humor ever!
On a more serieus note is there a offical top 10 of highest video game sales.
