If so, I wanna bust out SotN and FF7.

Not from the game itself, but you can copy them from a PSX memory card to a PS2 one for backup purposes after the initial save to a PSX memory card.

In other words, you need a PSX memory card. :)

also, from what i understand... some of the offbrand playstation 1 memory cards have some issues with the ps2, so i'd steer clear of off brand and stick with the sony memory cards.

You can't, and you probably don't want to if you think about it.

For instance, let's say you're playin SOTN and you save on your PS2 memory card. Then your PS2 breaks down, or you want to play SOTN on your friend's PSX, or your portable PSONE. Now you can't access your save file. DOH!

I've never had a problem w/ my PSX memory card saves on my PS2, and I have a couple "off-brand" ones.

The horror stories I hear about off-brand memory cards usually involve "mega memory" or other such high-capacity memory cards. I've never heard about a regular capacity, 15-block off-brand memory card giving up the ghost (and the saves).

Just for reference, I use a Mad Catz 8x memory card that doesn't use compression. You're basically just changing a bank switching register with the button. It's really reliable. I've got 6 pages completely filled, and I'm working on the last 2. Look for the silver card with the red, circular rocker switch. They also make an obscene 32x uncompressed card. Good luck remembering where you left your saves. ;-) Both of these cards are relatively cheap, too.

Yeah, I like those 2X ones with a red and yellow button. Not many problems with those. I had a 16X and 32X and both those earased themselves.

you can buy regular PSX meme cards wor like $5 anywhere, cant you?

I feel compelled to speak out whenever I see a memory card thread.

I work at the Call Center for Nintendo, and I've never ever ever EVAR had somebody call in because their 1st party memory card deleted their saves or corrupted the data. However, towards the end of the N64's life, I would get calls almost every day from people whose Mad Katz, Nyko, Interact, Pelican, Whatever brand 3rd party memory card crapped out on them and they wound up losing all of their data.

Your game saves are the only thing that can't be replaced. Don't trust your memories to crappy 3rd rate memory cards.

This has been a PSA from your friendly neighborhood fluke.
