I found a Game doctor SF VI 2 days ago, first day was to figure out how to make it work( the dc plug was broken so a genesis donated the part) next day how to load it and finding I only have 16mbs of memory (that sucks) memory on stores on the internet is kind of expensive, so as far as I can see the memory is only volatile ram as a pc not flash (you unplug the unit and it loses the data) so why so expensive?? well no help there but also the diskette drive is soooo slow have anyone thought or figured how to change the drive for a flash device or hdd? they are storage media all? thoughts!! truth that I can't see? comments?

Did you check Tototek for the RAM? That's probably the cheapest place you'll be able to find it. It's kind of surprising it's even possible to find upgrade modules for a 15+ year old device like that. That's what's keeping prices high.

There's no way to change the floppy drive for something else like flash/HDD as it uses a floppy interface. Does that model have a parallel port? You can use that and the transfer software to send data over a parallel cable. For older non-parallel port GDSFs, there was a cart made that would plug into the cart slot on top, and had a parallel port on it, but it's incredibly rare.

edit: there's also a CD-ROM unit (hard to find also), but it requires the parallel port as well...

The only one who have it is Tototek 35dlls for a 64Mb of pure ram that's what I mean expensive!! but yeah you are right is pretty old so no complains!

yes my unit haves the parallel port on the back, and I have a PC exclusive for consoles Gameshark link for psx, N64 and GameShark 3 psx, so adding that is no problem. what I mean is a way to update the 15 year old machine a little with a bigger storage device and also faster, I know yo must rewrite the bios and invert the signal like a USB to 40 pin, like the 48 pin to usb on external enclosures and add a chip with the routine for communication.

Is a lot of work so maybe no one is interested because you have the cartridge or the rom, but just to know if it is possible, this time just for educational purpose not to play for free as it was intended to be with this kind of devices! cause the collection is already here (I think everyone here is a collector for what I read in this forums)

If you look on Cherryroms Copier and Hardware forum you might be able to dig up some interesting older posts where people researched the GDSF hardware and shared their findings.

SWC DX2 was the more popular for using alternate storage mediums as it had hardware and BIOS code that was compatible with things like ZIP drives. It even supported using CF cards -> IDE adapter in a 2.5" external enclosure, IIRC.
