Arcade machine care and durability questions

Can an arcade machine be safely stored in a garage? I live in a typically dry area but it does occassionally get fog. I am worried about moisture and dust getting into my arcade machine if I buy one. I do not have room in my house for the machine. I have had an RCA stereo/cd player in my garage for about 3 years that has never had a problem. I have considered wrapping the machine in plastic since I have never seen a cover built for arcade machines. Thoughts?

If you wrap it in air-tight material make sure to put something in there to regulate the moisture (dessicent packets, etc.) because the 'humidor' effect will do worse than environmental moisture and temperature changes, and that may only affect the cabinet itself, not the electronics

I think using other electronics as a gauge (stereo) is a good test. Remember that a lot of these games have sat in warehouses for many years. They're prett durable.
