well, I'm the kind of guy who always has to have some kind of project.
recently, i saw some translated dragon quest carts for the snes, and that got me thinking, what about other games?
so i find that there's a whole bunch of stuff about releasing nes games that never made it out, as well as flashing chips and replacing them in japanese sfc games.

so, my question is, now that i have motivation, what do i need to get a translated snes game?

from my research i've found out the following:
i'll need a copy of the game (or one with the same board layout, at least)
an eeprom chip that has the translated/hacked/unreleased ROM flashed to it.
soldering skill(how hard is it, really?)

i also lack a pic programmer, can anyone recommend a programmer, or someplace that can do it for me?

You might want to give a look into this thread: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=120604

yup, read the whole thread.
but, i'm looking for something a little more specific.
i checked rom laboratory, but the site layout is seriously hurting my eyes.
is there a list somewhere of donor carts for the more popular games?

yeah, that's definitely helpful.
as far as finding a donor board, I simply have to match the ROM type, sram size, rom speed, if it's hirom or lorom, and the megabit size, correct?

example:
so, if i wanted to do Bahumut Lagoon, which is hirom/64kb sram/fastrom
I could use Madden NFL 97, which is hirom/64kb sram/fastrom

Indeed, except for the megabit size I think. I guess that you could use whatever size you want/need.

alright, so now i know how to find the proper donor board.
just one more question, do i have to match the copier type?
for example, could i use Madden NFL 95, which is the same, other than megabit size and copier type (it's MGD)
to make a repro of bahamut lagoon, which is SMC

anyone know of a good flasher for the eproms?
meaning, as a service, or the actual device to do it.

There is a list of PCB types on my website (SNES Central). You should be able to find suitable donors from the list. Really, all you have to make sure to do is match up the amount of RAM and ensure you have a LOROM/HIROM pcb to match the game you want to put on it. The size of the ROM on the donor cart is irrelevant (I think you can repro Tales of Phantasia on a Madden 95 cart).
