Title says it all. What are my best options for a new Xbox360 headset? I'm heading out to get a new one tomorrow, and I'd rather not buy another for a while. Not looking for a stereo one(Turtle Beach and the like), just looking for a solid headset to use on a generally frequent basis(I play my Xbox on Live just about every day). I've been through about 3-4 wired microsoft headsets, and I have a wireless one from Microsoft, but those suck as well.
So post with your thoughts on the subject. Hopefully I can get some suggestions before my shift ends and I get to head out tomorrow afternoon!

My turtle beach headset turned out to be defective, even muted the stupid thing kept transmitting bass sounds over the mic.
My mad catz throat mic just blew up on me too. It was already being held together with duct tape when the ear piece broke off inside my ear.
I've had a couple of the 3rd party ones break over the years too. These days I'm just using my halo 2 planetronics headset. It sucks though, because there's no volume control.

I just bought the regular wired XBox360 headset... works great! Never had a problem with it.

I use an Intec wired headset although the headset itself just slides over your ear as opposed to going over your entire head. It works well and it's confortable. It looks like this (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3026598&CAWELAID=146343133), although I got mine at Game Crazy for the same price.

I have the wireless and never use it, wired works fine as long as my cat didn't chew the f-ing wire through again.

Wired works for me, though there appears to be a small bug with pulling the wired headset at certain times (doesn't register afterwards until I restart my box).
If you're looking for something better than the default wired headset, get an adapter and find a nice, normal headset.

I have a pair of Astros. Expensive, but SO worth it. I've owned mine for almost 2 years and they still work great.

My boyfriend are using a Xbox 360 Headset with Microphone. I bought it on March of 2009 for his birthday present. He said this headset Lightweight, over-the-head design enables comfortable use for him.

So, are the previously mentioned Intecs the only available clip on headsets for the 360? I really don't like full size headphones and I can't even remember the last time I used them.

I picked up a cell phone headset at Target and it works fine. It was only $8 at the time, so I don't think it's a name brand or anything. It's probably not the "best" out there but I hear people talk and they hear me talk. There's a mute button and a volume control. No problems with buzzing, static or popping noises on my end. All for $8 and I've had it for at least a year so I ain't complaining.
Any cell phone headset with a 2.5mm plug should work. There are 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapters if you have a PC headset available.

Yeah, I can say that Marco's headset works fine. I don't notice any difference :)

This topic is a few weeks old FYI. However, On topic I was wondering the same thing a while back. I tried finding a reliable headset that wasn't designed specifically for the 360 but nobody seemed to know. Eventually I just went and bought a standard wired Microsoft headset, your best bet is just to buy one at KMart and get an extended warranty with it. If you play your 360 every day your headset is most likely going to break within a year or two.
